Job Description - Senior Manager Site Reliability Engineer role.

Manage an SRE team that manages, operates, and maintains the SLA of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure for databases, applications, tools, networks, etc. This is an exciting time in our journey - OCI is growing fast, still at an early stage, and working on ambitious new initiatives. Managers at any level can have significant technical and business impact. It would help if you were both a rock-solid manager and a distributed systems generalist comfortable diving deep into any part of the stack. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience
  • 12+ years experience managing and operating large-scale, highly available, cloud-based distributed systems
  • 3+ years of manager experience and 10 years of industry experience
  • Strong knowledge of operating system fundamentals
  • Strong understanding of data models and distributed persistence technologies
  • Thorough understanding of latest security principles, techniques, and protocols
  • Strong troubleshooting and performance-tuning skills
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle
  • Experience building and operating scalable infrastructure software or distributed systems.
  • Experience in infrastructure as code platforms like Terraform will be a plus
  • Experience building and managing public cloud services
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in a highly innovative and fast-paced environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills, with excellent problem-solving abilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science
  • Direct experience managing services in a multi-tenant, virtualized, or containerized environment
  • Direct experience with fleet orchestration for both virtual and containerized workloads
  • Working familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and standard network architectures
  • Working familiarity with building secure software using modern security principles

Responsibilities

As a manager of the SRE engineering division, you will apply your knowledge of software architecture to manage Oracle Cloud Infrastructure tasks associated with operating, debugging, or helping design software applications, operating systems, and databases according to the provided design specifications. Could you suggest enhancements within an existing software architecture and suggest improvements to the architecture?

This role will manage a talented team of senior, mid, and junior engineers that maintains, troubleshoots, and debugs software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks, etc.

Manages and controls activities in multi-functional areas of sections. Ensures appropriate operational planning is effectively executed to meet Corporate specifications. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, and a thorough understanding of product development. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 5+ years of software engineering or related experience
