Bengaluru, Karnataka, India Shell Full time

Seeking an energetic and capable Production Seismologist supporting the Conventional Oil & Gas (COG) Development Organisation in the Shell Technology Centre Bangalore (STCB); one of the three Technology hubs.

This is an opportunity to gain exposure to a wide variety of projects covering the full E&P business spectrum, CCUS and green energy.

Overall, projects are designed to progress energy through the project maturation funnel and thus provide a sustained business growth.

Conventional Oil & Gas Development provides lifecycle development and subsurface support for integrated projects and assets in the COG Portfolio.

This is achieved through end-to-end business delivery by our capable and competent staff.

The STCB COG Subsurface Development Support organization is a thriving multi-disciplinary community demonstrating a true 'One Development' spirit, which collaborates and integrates with business partners across the globe.

The portfolio will range from large brownfield redevelopment (including infill, waterflood and EOR opportunities) to green field development, exploration/appraisal projects in a variety of different geological settings and CCUS projects aligned with Shell's ambitions.

What's the role?

As a Production Seismologist in COG Development -STCB you will be responsible for the Production Seismology work content and quality in a given project/study.

You will contribute to reservoir prediction, optimally locating development wells with accurate predictions of their HC drainage and associated uncertainties.

You will ensure full seamless integration with the other subsurface disciplines.

You will provide seismic interpretation and related input into static models of oil and gas accumulations for reasons of appraisal strategy, field development and well planning.

Identify and propose reservoir appraisal and (re-)development opportunities.

You will be screening planned well trajectories in support of well planning activities and identify opportunities for improved structural interpretation and reservoir characterization.

Update models with new data as they become available-Generation of new and/or QC of existing seismic to well ties and timely delivery of detailed structural seismic interpretations (depth converted, internally consistent frameworks of horizon and fault picks & fault polygons) as input to the building or updating of structural framework models by yourself or in close co-operation with the team.

You will need to highlight the key uncertainties in the depth converted structural interpretations and generate multiple realisations if warranted.

The emphasis will be on:

  • Champion best practices in integrated reservoir interpretation and coordinate HC maturation and well planning highlighting risks and uncertainty.
  • Liaising with Asset teams in the COG Development portfolio to execute the projects to agreed quality.
  • Taking responsibility for seismic interpretation and integrated team deliverables such as FDPs and well proposals, in line witShell's opportunity realisation processes.
  • Identify areas where the processing or acquisition of geophysical information would reduce uncertainties.
  • Keeping abreast and actively stimulate the use of effective stateoftheart technologies.

What we need from you

  • M.Sc. or PhD degree in Geoscience with minimum 6+ years of experience in seismic interpretation and related subsurface evaluation work.
  • Skilled in in Seismic Interpretation, Time Depth conversion and Structural geology.
  • Awareness of QI and inversion modelling are considered an advantage.
  • Well to seismic calibration and wavelet extraction.
  • Structural and Stratigraphic mapping, horizon and fault interpretation.
  • Velocity modelling and depth conversion.
  • Multiple seismic attributes analysis and 3D visualisation.
  • Proficient in the use of Petrel, Rockdock is strongly preferred.
  • Providing geophysical inputs to subsurface models, well planning, well operations and reservoir management.
  • Awareness of 3D/4D close the loop
  • Involvement in the formulation, construction and execution of field development plans and participation in integrated field studies and reservoir modelling exercises and a high level of appreciation of the impact these field studies have on field development and business decisions.
  • Strong ability to assess technical risk of projects to underpin quality investment decisions.
  • Welldeveloped interpersonal and presentation skills, good team player; enjoy working in multidisciplinary and multicultural project teams.
