Job Summary:


The Veterinary Pathologist is responsible for preparing pathology reports and serving as the study pathologist for GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) acute, sub-acute, and sub-chronic toxicological studies.

This role involves developing and maintaining pathology functions to support in vivo toxicology and pharmacology studies, validating new histopathology methods, conducting gross pathological examinations, and performing biochemistry analysis.

The Veterinary Pathologist will also provide clinical examination of laboratory animals, manage Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and contribute technical/scientific input to study designs as part of the research team.


Key Responsibilities:

Pathology Reports:

  • Prepare comprehensive pathology reports for various studies.

Study Pathologist:

  • Act as the study pathologist for GLP-compliant acute, sub-acute, and sub-chronic toxicological studies.

Pathology Function Development:

  • Develop and maintain pathology functions to support in vivo toxicology and pharmacology studies.
  • Validate new methods or techniques for histopathology.

Gross Pathological Examination:

  • Conduct gross pathological examinations for acute to sub-chronic toxicological studies.

Biochemistry Analysis:

  • Conduct serum/plasma biochemistry analysis and interpret the results.

Veterinary Clinical Examination:

  • Perform veterinary clinical examinations of all experimental laboratory animals.

SOPs and Guidance Documents:

  • Develop and manage Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), guidance documents, and standard formats.

Technical/Scientific Input:

  • Provide significant technical and scientific input into the design of studies.
  • Work collaboratively as part of the research team.

Pathology Evaluations:

  • Conduct gross, microscopic, and ancillary evaluations of animal pathology specimens.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc) and Master of Veterinary Science (MVSc).
  • Ph D in Veterinary Science is also considerable.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in veterinary pathology or a related field.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of GLP regulations and toxicological study requirements.
  • Expertise in gross and microscopic pathology.
  • Proficiency in histopathology techniques and biochemistry analysis.
  • Excellent analytical and interpretative skills.
  • Strong organizational and documentation abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research team.
