At Cisco Meraki Wireless, we simplify and secure wireless enterprise connectivity across the world. We are the market leader, and we serve a wide range of customers which includes office building for largest companies in the world, hospitals, universities, schools, factories, mines, hotels, retail shops, stadiums, and large public venues.

Our wireless access point software team builds a wide range of Wi-Fi access points including the latest Wi-Fi 7 APs (Access Points). Our software team covers platform bring up for everything from boot loaders to web servers on prototype hardware, kernel, driver integration, Wi-Fi features, wireless security, BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) radio, and other sophisticated functions integrated into our product.

In this team, you will get exposed to software for most advanced technologies for wireless infrastructure devices. Same team will also automate and qualify these platforms. Your contributions as part of this team will have direct impact into connectivity experience for critically important applications across the world.

What You'll Do

You are deeply motivated and skilled Software developer and expected to deliver and lead through others, as well as personally working to reach innovative solutions to business problems. You will work closely with other team members and cross functional teams to design a solution, implement it, and take it through qualification all the way to customer shipment and support. You are excited to be the one responsible for power-on and bringing life to the most advanced networking system in the world.

Responsibilities:

In this role, we are looking for someone to help us expand and refine the capabilities of our wireless access points beyond simply Wi-Fi. As the world becomes more connected the need to support and simplify that connectivity grows.

As a senior wireless feature engineer, you will be tasked with architecting and implementing systems that help establish Cisco Wireless APs as viable and fully capable IoT gateways. You will work with variety of sensors including, but not limited to environmental and security sensors, thermostats, door locks and more.

With millions of APs deployed worldwide, this is an unrivaled opportunity to create something that could have immediate and significant impact throughout the world.

Example projects for a Wireless Driver Engineer:

Implement latest IEEE features Implementing features and integrating into Qualcomm driver Crafting and implementing a secure and efficient authentication mechanism to allow safe and easy client connections Integrating drivers to add support for established protocols and systems Establishing a reporting system that is simple and intuitive and gives customers good insight into their network and clients

Required skills:

6+ years of experience with BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent Are fluent in writing C and C++ professional production code. Have experience working with protocols. Have working experience in access point, firmware and driver code, SDK integration. Understanding of OS fundamentals and experience working in both kernel space and user space Have effective interpersonal skills and a strong ability to collaborate with others Are proactive and willing to learn new things and tackle new challenges

Bonus points:

Understanding of WiFi 6 & 7 features Understanding of WiFi security protocols Deep understanding of wireless protocols and network security fundamentals Experience working with version control, specifically Git

U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings. Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday, plus a day off for their birthday. Employees accrue up to 20 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) each year and have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues without tapping into their PTO. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community. Employees are also able to purchase company stock through our Employee Stock Purchase Program.

Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco pays at the standard rate of 1% of incentive target for each 1% revenue attainment against the quota up to 100%. Once performance exceeds 100% quota attainment, incentive rates may increase up to five times the standard rate with no cap on incentive compensation. For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
