Job Overview:
We are looking for a seasoned SQL Database Administrator to join our team.

The perfect candidate should have a solid background in overseeing, managing, and optimizing SQL databases.

You will have the responsibility of ensuring the availability, performance, and security of our SQL Server databases. Additionally, collaborating with development teams to create and execute database solutions that meet business requirements.


Responsibilities:

Database Management:

  • Install, set up, and upkeep SQL Server instances.
  • Monitor database performance, make necessary adjustments, and apply updates when needed.
  • Conduct database tuning, optimize queries, and manage indexes for peak performance.

Backup and Recovery:

  • Develop, put into practice, and sustain database backup and recovery strategies.
  • Regularly back up data, restore databases as necessary, and ensure data integrity and accessibility.

Security and Compliance:
Establish and control database security measures to safeguard confidential data.

  • Guarantee compliance with data protection regulations and organizational protocols.
  • Perform routine security audits and assess vulnerabilities.

High Availability and Disaster Recovery:

  • Put into operation and maintain high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions.
  • Ensure databases are resilient and capable of rapid recovery in case of failure.

Database Design and Development Support:

  • Work together with development teams to devise and execute database schemas, stored procedures, and functions.
  • Help in creating database solutions that align with business applications.
  • Offer advice on optimal practices for database development and enhancement.

Monitoring and Troubleshooting:

  • Set up and manage database monitoring tools to identify and resolve issues proactively.
  • Diagnose and fix database-related problems, such as performance bottlenecks, connectivity issues, and data errors.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, procedures, and regulations.
  • Create and analyze reports on database performance, utilization, and occurrences.

Requirements:

Technical Skills:

  • 3+ years of background as a SQL Database Administrator.
  • Proficiency in SQL Server, covering installation, setup, and maintenance.
  • Solid comprehension of database architecture, performance optimization, and tuning methods.
  • Experience with backup and recovery strategies, high availability, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Familiarity with best practices for database security and compliance regulations.
  • Knowledge of SQL scripting and automation tools.
  • Experience with database monitoring tools (e.g., SQL Server Profiler, Performance Monitor, or third-party tools).

Soft Skills:

  • Strong problemsolving abilities and keen attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication and teamwork skills.
  • Capacity to work autonomously and juggle multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Proactive approach to acquiring new technologies and refining existing skills.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification in SQL Server (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate).
  • Experience with cloud-based database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database).
  • Knowledge of other database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
