Along with researchers, we also help internal Springer Nature teams in integrating AI solutions in their product for an easy-going experience.

Our task here is to understand the pain points of our customers and come up with the most innovative, cost effective and scalable solution.

Our team is responsible for staying up to date with the latest technology trends in the field of AI and GenAI.

We conduct experiments to validate their implications and applications at Springer Nature.

About the RoleThe purpose of the Data Scientist role at Springer Nature is to utilize advanced data science techniques to extract insights, drive decision-making, and enhance operational efficiency in the publishing cycle.

This role involves analyzing complex datasets, developing predictive models, and creating data-driven solutions to improve editorial processes, content quality, and reader engagement.

Key responsibilities include applying statistical analysis and machine learning algorithms, collaborating with cross-functional teams, developing and deploying data products and tools, ensuring data accuracy and security, and staying updated on emerging data science trends.

The Data Scientist's work supports Springer Nature's mission of advancing research communication and supporting academic communities worldwide.

Key ResponsibilitiesAnalyze large datasets to extract valuable insights and trends that can inform business decision.

Develop and deploy machine learning models to solve specific business problems and improve processesBuild and train statistical models and machine learning algorithms for replication for future projects.

Productionize the models and make those available at scale.
Create POC based justifying the model selection for a use case.
Lead and manage data science projects, including defining project objectives, developing predictive models, and delivering insights to stakeholders.
Mentor junior data scientists, AI Engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive data-driven decision-making.
Research and implement advanced machine learning algorithms and statistical models to solve complex business problems.
Contribute to the development of data science best practices and drive innovation in the field.
Consider ethical use of AI while experimenting with AI ML models.

Within 3 Months:
Get familiar with Springer Nature's data infrastructure, tools, and processes.
Start analyzing large datasets to extract valuable insights and trends.
Develop initial predictive models to solve specific business problems and improve processes.
Participate in team agile processes and ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, planning, and retrospectives.
Share your understanding and opinions on building scalable and reliable data-driven solutions.

By 3-6 Months:
Lead the development and deployment of machine learning models and ensure their integration into the production environment.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive data-driven decision-making and improve editorial processes, content quality, and reader engagement.
Mentor junior data scientists and AI engineers, providing guidance and support on data science projects.
Conduct research and implement advanced machine learning algorithms and statistical models to solve complex business problems.
Contribute to the development of data science best practices and drive innovation within the team.

By 6-12 Months:
Lead and manage data science projects, including defining project objectives,developing, predictive models, and delivering sights to stakeholders.
Ensure the product ionization of models and their availability at scale, justifying model selection through proof-of-concepts.
Advocate for the ethical use of AI while experimenting with AI/ML models.
Take part in the recruiting process, helping assess applicants and onboard new team members.
Provide actionable feedback to team members and influence the design of data products and tools.
Participate in user research to better understand the needs of researchers and other users of Springer Nature's platforms.

Drive continuous improvement and innovation in the field of data science to support Springer Nature's mission of advancing research communication and academic excellence.

Experience in AIML and GenAI with a proven track record of delivering impactful solutions in a business setting.
High proficiency in coding including Python with sound knowledge of Data Structures.
Expertise in machine learning, statistical analysis, and data visualization tools and techniques.
Understanding of Machine Learning project lifecycle, tools and MLOps practices.
Experience in Analyzing the Complex Problems and translate it into data science algorithms.
Experience in Generative AI, LLM, building RAG applications, model optimization.
Hands on experience in NLP.Experience with any cloud platform.
Hands on experience with Git Experience with relational Database. Google Big Query preferred.
Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
