Job description:

We are seeking a skilled Python Automation Engineer with expertise in L2 and L3 protocol testing to join our team. As a Python Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing automated test scripts and frameworks to validate networking protocols at both the data link layer (L2) and network layer (L3). Your primary focus will be on designing, implementing, and maintaining Python-based test automation solutions to ensure the functionality, performance, and scalability of our networking products.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks using Python to validate L2 and L3 networking protocols.
  2. Design and execute test plans to verify the functionality, interoperability, and performance of networking products.
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including development, QA, and product management to identify testing requirements and ensure comprehensive test coverage.
  4. Analyze test results, troubleshoot issues, and work with developers to resolve defects in a timely manner.
  5. Continuously improve test automation processes and methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  6. Participate in the review and refinement of product requirements, specifications, and design documents to ensure testability and adherence to quality standards.
  7. Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in networking and test automation.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  2. Strong proficiency in Python programming language and experience in developing automated test scripts and frameworks.
  3. In-depth understanding of L2 and L3 networking protocols such as Ethernet, VLAN, TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, etc.
  4. Hands-on experience with networking equipment such as switches, routers, firewalls, and load balancers.
  5. Familiarity with network testing tools and protocols analyzers (e.g., Wireshark, IXIA, Spirent).
  6. Solid understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), software testing methodologies, and agile development practices.
  7. Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  8. Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience with SDN (Software-Defined Networking) technologies and controllers.
  2. Knowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM, Docker).
  3. Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  4. Certification in networking (e.g., CCNA, CCNP) or software testing (e.g., ISTQB) is a plus.
