Primary Purpose

Group Trucks Operations (GTO) International Manufacturing (IM) is an organization with 25 years of existence in India, Bangalore, Hosakote.

Reporting to the Vice President, GTO IM Hosakote, the Director of People & Culture is an executive leadership position with overall responsibility for People & Culture and Safety function at Group Trucks Operations, ensuring a focus on "Energy, Passion and Respect for the individual".

This role will have a direct impact on developing and building a globally aligned, locally authentic People strategy. Critical to the success of the role, this leader is responsible for the effective leadership, management and mentoring of a high performing team of People & Culture, Organizational Development, Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, Compensation & Benefits, HR Services, Employee Relations and Safety & Health, functions.

With strong people leadership experience, the Director is well versed in managing people through change, maintaining Productive Industrial relations, coaching for performance, and developing a team culture that supports agility and innovation. Health and Safety will always be our number one priority, as well as understanding sustainability and how it is critical for better business results.

This role will ensure effective leadership, coordination, and guidance to reflect and promote the company's mission, vision, aspirations, and values at all times.

Key Responsibilities

Strengthening, promoting, and embedding a positive values-based culture that encourages inclusivity and diversity, accountability, and respect.Translating group strategy through a people lens and leading a team of professionals to build the required organizational capability and culture to support successful and tactical execution.Coach and support executive leaders in fostering performance through continuous dialogue, a growth mindset, and effective feedback.Proactively build and promote strong employee trust and open communication between all levels of the organization using Volvo Values and leadership principles.Have cost-effective approaches to cultural and people management activities through improved productivity and optimization of processes, programs, and resources.Support the business on Employee and Industrial Relations strategy including being able to constructively use industrial relations/workplace legislation to achieve productive outcomes aligned to the company's values.Lead and implement strategic talent and leadership development frameworks, ensuring a workforce capable of meeting future demands.Provide the leadership required to ensure consistent and effective operational and after Market performance of the group and through the implementation of regional strategy, drive to secure operational excellence and sustainable profitable growth.Ensure People & Culture service functions such as Talent Acquisition, Employee Administration, VGU, Payroll, meet the policy objectives of the company and legislative compliance.Strategically lead the Safety and Health function to realize Volvo Group's safety strategy in addition to buidling and embedding a safety culture across the organization.Strategically direct Employee and Industrial Relations initiatives to ensure effective and consistent outcomes across the group which support business objectives and reflect company values.Develop and administer effective Compensation & Benefits policies that are consistent with global policy and competitively meet the needs of the group and its country operations.Secure strong talent development and succession planning, developing executive leadership competency and engagement.Liaise with regional and global People & Culture colleagues to facilitate globally aligned, locally authentic strategy and initiatives.Through consultation develop, review, disseminate and adjudicate where necessary, company policy to ensure effective best management practices, global consistency, and legal compliance.Build relationships at all levels within Volvo Group GTO India to effectively maximize employee involvement in change management.Be an inclusive and inspiring leader, acting as a role model to all employees.Represent GTO Hosakote in Human resource Country Committee (HRCC) and LER meetings.
