Editorial Advisor, Transfer Desk

About the Role
Transfer Desk is a manuscript transfer service, which provides authors with a convenient way of resubmitting their manuscript to a more suitable journal. Finding the right journal can be difficult and sometimes sound manuscripts are rejected because they don't precisely match a journal's aims and scope. The transfer desk team helps authors leave with a positive experience & encourages them to come back to us in the future while giving editors the first choice of new research. They help authors find the most suitable journal, recognizing the scientific merit of their manuscript and ensuring it can be submitted elsewhere within SpringerNature without delay.
Role Responsibilities:

Perform technical assessment (quality, style, scientific validity) of manuscripts, understanding the scope, and suggesting journals to the author

Send a list of the most suitable journals along with reasoning & relevant information to authors to make a decision

Provide best possible solutions to authors - follow FAQs and Standard operating procedures and draft appropriate replies

Transfer manuscripts to receiving journal & supporting the authors throughout the transfer process

Build effective relationships with authors and editors

Responsible for handling author queries

Review the quality of work completed, to ensure that it meets the project
standards
Experience, Skills & Qualifications:
-
Education: Master's degree or equivalent in any discipline of Science, Humanities, and Social sciences

Excellent written and verbal communication: Should possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, including written and in-person

Analytical skills: An eye for grammar, punctuation, spelling and factual accuracy is essential

Ability to meet deadlines: Ability to multitask, prioritize projects, and meet deadlines.

Editorial judgment: To assess the overall quality of writing, suggest improvements, and ensure consistency with the publication's style guide. Manuscript handling experience is beneficial but not essential

Excellent analytical & problem-solving abilities

Well-organized with good time management skills
