We are on the lookout for a dedicated, high-energy individual to contribute to the building of the network that powers the world's largest online services. The ideal candidate for this role should have proficiency in network protocols, network devices like network interface cards, switches, and routers. You should be adept at working with extensive distributed systems, managing the network infrastructure that underpins the Azure Cloud infrastructure, and designing and constructing large-scale distributed systems for network management.

We are seeking Network Engineers of all experience levels for the Microsoft India development center in Hyderabad.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of technical experience in network design, development, and automation OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field AND 2+ years of technical experience in network design, development, and automation OR Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 1+ year(s) of technical experience in network design, development, and automation.
  • 4-5+ years of experience in the networking Industry or large-scale data center network.
  • Proficiency in working with L2/L3 switching platforms, application networking, and network protocols like BGP, OSPF, VRRP, LACP.
  • Experience in operating within a large scale data center/cloud environment with an understanding of passive components (UTP Cabling, Optical cabling)
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language: C++, Java, Python, Perl.
  • Expertise in comprehending and creating machine-readable formats like XML, JSON.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships across various levels, teams, geographies, and business functions.
  • Sound judgment, decision-making skills, and the ability to function effectively under constant deadline pressure in ambiguous situations.
  • Effective negotiation skills and conflict management abilities.

  • Capability to fulfill Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening prerequisites for the role.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
6+ years of technical experience in network design, development, and automation OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 5+ years of technical experience in network design, development, and automation OR Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 3+ years of technical experience in network design, development, and automation OR Doctorate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes expertise in network technologies to contribute to network design, implementation, and operation.
  • Transforms high-level designs for data centers or network sites into detailed designs and collaborates with internal teams and external partners to ease the development, expansion, or modification of network infrastructure within existing data centers or network sites.
  • Handles, troubleshoots, and resolves live site issues by leveraging an understanding of the network, its components, and features as well as utilizing problem management tools to pinpoint and implement solutions with minimal disruption to customers. Engages in on-call/DRI duties to resolve incidents in production.
  • Works with teams throughout the organization to support and oversee network deployments; utilizes machine-readable definitions for deployment management.
  • Analyzes capacity concerns across basic transfer protocols, identifies network components that may require modification or replacement, and proposes hardware and/or network component changes to internal teams collaborating with external partners and suppliers to enhance capacity.
  • Participates in postmortem and root-cause analysis processes to enhance network reliability continuously, promotes innovation, and cost-effectiveness by devising new systems and tools catered to meet customer and business requirements.
