JOB DESCRIPTION

As an Oracle Database Engineer, you'll handle database administration, design, development, and support applications available systems. Your role involves enhancing the automation process of the database, with a focus on DevOps to enhance software engineering practices. Collaborating with stakeholders to tailor solutions to their database needs is key.

You'll be part of a dynamic team of engineers, DBA's, and developers, working on high-profile projects. Involvement in IT projects from inception to daily maintenance is expected, along with a solid grasp of cloud concepts.

Core Requirements and Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing a large fleet of Oracle databases, ensuring performance, security, scalability, and high-availability
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, Oracle, Postgres, SQL Server, and Mongo database administration
  • Proficiency in Oracle 19c databases installation and upgrades
  • Skilled in RMAN database backup and recovery
  • Setting up Monitoring, Backup & Recovery, High Availability, and alerting systems
  • Migration of data and application database code to AWS databases
  • Development of automation frameworks and tooling for the engineering organization's use
  • Experience with container and container orchestration technologies, cloud-native infrastructure, and Linux internals
  • Expertise in creating shell scripts and infrastructure-as-code
  • Problem-solving for complex database operations and end-to-end Database Development
  • After-hours support and participation in on-call rotation

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Oracle, SQL Server, Postgres, MongoDB, and database automation
  • Hands-on experience in Oracle administration, scripting, and performance tuning
  • Extensive AWS cloud and DevOps experience
  • Commercial database migration experience Oracle/SQL Server to Postgres
  • Experience with AWS RDS, Aurora, and SQL Server administration
  • Familiarity with continuous delivery tools like GitLab, Octopus Deploy, Kubernetes, and ServiceNow
  • Desire and ability to quickly learn new technologies
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and adapt to new challenges
