Job Description: Mainframe CICS Administrator

In the search for someone to take on the role of Mainframe CICS Admin, we are seeking a candidate with the following experience and qualifications:

  • Experience in upgrading and installing CICS Transaction Servers, zCEE, CICS PA, and other vendor products (CAFC), as well as maintaining them by applying FIX packs periodically.
  • Installation and tuning processes and procedures for CICS web services, CICSplex System Manager, JVM Servers, and other essential tasks to ensure that all CICS services and infrastructures meet operational targets.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently handle most tasks within the role without external assistance.
  • Proficient in monitoring and utilizing administrative tools such as Omegamon, Sysview, or equivalent tools for support purposes.
  • Identifying performance bottlenecks and providing appropriate administrative solutions.
  • Familiarity with System z communications and Systems Network Architecture (SNA) concepts.
  • Capability to interpret and effectively utilize assembler output listings.
  • Monitoring ticketing tools to resolve incidents and requests within agreed SLAs.
  • Willingness to work weekends on a rotational basis to support planned changes and provide 24/7 client system support.

Requirements

To excel in this position, we are in search of a candidate with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to take ownership and resolve application issues through:

  • Utilizing system diagnostic tools such as CA SYSVIEW, Omegamon, Mainview, Fault Analyzer, and CICS PA to develop problem solutions and troubleshoot CICS SSL Setup.
  • Understanding CICS Application Architecture (CMAS/MRO and NON MRO), designing, and maintaining CICS applications, analyzing architecture and security issues, and conducting advanced troubleshooting for CICS connections from CICS to Off-host DataPower, WAS, and JAVA.
  • Working knowledge of z/OS Job Control Language (JCL).
  • Experience with Service Now for Incident/Change Management and BMC Remedy On-Demand Tool.
  • Ensuring comprehensive documentation of all DR-related operational processes and procedures.
