Job Summary:

The Manager - Finance is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all financial operations of the organization. This individual will ensure the accurate and efficient management of financial records, compliance with regulatory requirements, and the provision of insightful financial reporting to support the organization's strategic goals. The Manager - Finance will work closely with the leadership team and program staff to ensure financial accountability and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Accounting and Reporting:

- Oversee and manage the day-to-day financial operations, including bookkeeping, expense tracking, and fund management.

- Ensure accurate and timely voucher entries in Tally, following the guidance of the Accounts Officer.

- Maintain and reconcile bank accounts, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies.

- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, providing insightful analysis and recommendations.

- Develop and implement robust internal controls to safeguard the organization's assets.

- Manage the annual budgeting process, working collaboratively with program managers to develop realistic and achievable budgets.

- Monitor budget performance against actual results, providing variance analysis and recommendations for corrective action.

Compliance and Regulatory Requirements:

- Ensure strict adherence to all relevant government regulations, including Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA), Income Tax rules, and Charity Commissioner requirements.

- Prepare and file all necessary financial reports and returns as required by regulatory bodies.

- Stay updated on changes in financial regulations and ensure the organization's compliance.

- Manage audits (internal and external) and ensure timely and accurate responses to audit findings.

Staff and Program Reimbursements:

- Manage the timely processing and disbursement of staff and program-related reimbursements, ensuring adherence to organizational policies.

- Verify the accuracy and completeness of reimbursement requests.

Taxation:

- Calculate and remit Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) accurately and on time.

- Prepare and file quarterly TDS returns.

Asset Management:

- Maintain accurate records of fixed assets, including the Fixed Assets Register.

- Ensure proper tracking and management of the organization's assets.

Team Collaboration and Support:

- Collaborate effectively with program managers and other staff to provide financial guidance and support.

- Work closely with the leadership team on financial planning and decision-making.

- Potentially supervise junior finance staff or volunteers, providing guidance and support.

Other Responsibilities:

- Contribute to the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.

- Assist with other financial tasks and projects as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master's degree in Finance or a professional accounting qualification (e.g., CA, CPA) is highly desirable.

- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management, specifically within the non-profit sector.

Technical Skills:

- Strong proficiency in computer applications, particularly MS Word and Excel (advanced skills in Excel are essential).

- Extensive working experience with Tally accounting software is mandatory.

- Familiarity with internet usage and online banking Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles and practices.

- In-depth understanding of government compliance requirements for NGOs, including FCRA, taxation, and Charity Commissioner regulations.

Language Skills:

- Excellent command of both English and Marathi (written and spoken) is essential for effective communication with stakeholders and staff.
