Job Summary

The Senior Group Leader in Research & Development will lead a team of scientists and engineers in the Fine Chemicals and CDMO business. This role is responsible for driving cost reduction and process improvement initiatives, overseeing new product development, New Technology development (Flow chemistry and continuous chemistry), managing lab operations and safety, and supporting scale-up and plant commissioning activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Cost Reduction and Process Improvement of Existing Products:Identify and implement cost-saving measures and process optimizations for existing products.
• Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshoot process issues to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
• Continuous improvement on the key projects to keep them cost competitive
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline operations and improve product quality.
• New Product Development:Lead the development of new products from concept to commercialization.
• Design and execute experiments to evaluate the feasibility and scalability of new products.
• Collaborate with marketing and business development teams to align R&D efforts with market needs and customer requirements.
• People Management, Lab Responsibilities, and Safety:Supervise and mentor a team of scientists and technicians, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment in the lab.
• Oversee lab operations, including equipment maintenance, inventory management, and procurement of supplies.
• Scale-up, Commissioning, Plant Support/Business Support:Lead scale-up activities for new products, ensuring smooth transition from lab to pilot plant and full-scale production.
• Support plant commissioning and troubleshooting to ensure successful startup and operation.

Provide technical support to manufacturing and business teams to address production challenges and optimize processes

• Data Entry and Document Preparation:Ensure accurate and timely data entry for all R&D activities.
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation, including experimental protocols, reports, and regulatory submissions.
• Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for data management and documentation.

The Person

Qualifications:

Ph.D. or master's degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.

Minimum of 15 years of experience in R&D within the fine chemicals industry.

Proven track record of successful product development and process improvement.

Strong leadership and people management skills.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.

Proficient in data management and documentation practices.

Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in a lab environment.

Experience with scale-up and plant commissioning is highly desirable.

Skills:

Strong project management and organizational skills.

Effectively utilizes Design of experiments for process optimization.

Ability to innovate the existing processes and troubleshoot the scale-up problems.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Proficiency in relevant software and tools for data analysis and documentation
