Job Designation - Windchill Developer/Lead

As a Windchill Developer, you will be responsible for reporting to the Development Lead/Manager and performing various tasks daily.

The following are the key activities involved in this role:

  1. Participate in business development processes and progress on assigned development tasks.
  2. Report to Architects on development assignments as articulated through design.
  3. Fundamentally fix software issues in a timely manner as reported by QA and Product Owners, led by scrum process.
  4. Actively participate in scrum events (daily standups, scrum planning, and scrum retrospective) and suggest process enhancements learned through daily work.
  5. Gain an understanding of the Windchill data model and assist architects in designing new requirements.
  6. Develop code using hand-on knowledge of Core Java, J2EE, JavaScript, and Hibernate.
  7. Run/unit tests and support QA for automated tests.
  8. Deal with ambiguities and communicate with stakeholders to gather necessary information when needed.
  9. Pursue learning and practicing new methods of development and suggesting alternatives to Software Architects.
  10. Maintain attention to detail and mentor new team members.
  11. Prepare technical documentation and provide feature demonstrations to business.
  12. Conduct training for fellow development teams and provide technical knowledge to new developers.
Requirements
  • Experienced with development following scrum methodology.
  • Hands-on experience with 5-7 years of Windchill customization, including Windchill data utilities, form validators, soft typing, loader mechanism, ACLs, Workflow & LifeCycle configuration, JDBC connections, and writing respecting query specs.
  • Adequate understanding of Windchill JavaDoc, relevant APIs, and supported methods.
  • Code written for scalability and reliability with keen performance observation on custom code.
  • Better understanding of OData layer and building application interfaces reusing Windchill REST API.
  • Experience with preparing customization on database transactional aspects (MS SQL or Oracle).
  • Knowledge of Windchill development environment installation, maintenance, and configuration.
  • Customization deployment skills on Windchill advanced configuration (e.g., cluster).
  • Working knowledge on Windows and Linux environments.
  • DevOps tools like GIT, JIRA working knowledge.
  • Experience dealing with PTC Technical Support through relevant issues/cases.
  • Better communication skill – verbal and written.
Desirable Skills
  • Data migration and supporting scripting, writing migration utilities.
  • Windchill Bulk Migration experience.
  • Proven experience in handling business support tickets (L1, L2, L3).
  • Experience building/developing complex application interface through REST APIs, creating services, and endpoints.
