Position Overview

The Culinary Operations Associate plays a pivotal role in supporting the Culinary Head by managing and optimizing the operational, administrative, and strategic aspects of kitchen operations. This position focuses on driving efficiency, implementing standards, and executing projects that enhance the performance of the culinary team. It is ideal for a professional with a strong background in food and kitchen operations who thrives in a program management role.

What you will own and be responsible for:

  1. Project Management

  • Lead and coordinate cost optimization initiatives, such as reducing food wastage and improving procurement efficiency.

  • Manage standardization projects, including creating and maintaining recipe cards, portion control guidelines, and operational SOPs.

  • Oversee software implementation projects, ensuring smooth adoption by the kitchen team.

Cost Analysis & Budgeting

  • Analyze food and labor costs to identify areas for improvement.

  • Support the Culinary Head in creating and monitoring budgets.

  • Generate regular reports on cost performance and efficiency metrics.

Operational Support

  • Assist in streamlining kitchen workflows and identifying bottlenecks.

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations in partnership with the Culinary Head.

  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and cost-effective purchasing.

Technology & Systems Management

  • Maintain and optimize kitchen management software, inventory systems, and reporting tools.

  • Train team members on software use and best practices.

  • Monitor data accuracy and ensure timely updates to systems.

Documentation & Communication

  • Prepare and maintain detailed documentation for recipes, SOPs, and training materials.

  • Act as a liaison between the Culinary Head and other departments (e.g., procurement, finance, and marketing).

  • Facilitate communication across teams to ensure alignment on goals and priorities.

Training Coordination

  • Coordinate with external training agencies to develop and execute the staff onboarding & training plan.

  • Organize training sessions, including scheduling, logistics, and communication with team members.

  • Gather feedback from participants and stakeholders to evaluate training effectiveness.

  • Collaborate with the Culinary Head to iterate and improve training programs based on feedback and organizational needs.

Who you will work with

Apart from the standard corporate functions (Management, HR, Finance, Procurement), you will be expected to collaborate closely with:

  • Culinary Head and the Culinary Team consisting of Outlet Executive Chefs

  • Projects team – for new expansion, improvements, and new initiatives



Requirements

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Hospitality Management, Culinary Arts, Food Science, or a related field.

  • 3–5 years of experience in food and kitchen operations, with a focus on areas like cost control, systems management, or process improvement.

  • Experience in project management or operational roles is a strong plus.

  • Proficiency in kitchen management software, inventory systems, and Excel/Google Sheets.

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and identify actionable insights.

  • Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.

  • Passion for food and an understanding of kitchen operations, even if not directly involved in cooking.
