Role Overview

As an SAP ABAP Expert at Spiro, you will design, develop, and maintain robust custom solutions within the SAP landscape. You'll collaborate closely with functional leads across Finance, Sales, CRM, and Operations to ensure seamless integration and performance of business-critical applications. This is a hands-on technical role with significant influence over our digital backbone as we scale rapidly across Africa and Asia.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop custom SAP applications using ABAP (including OO ABAP), ensuring scalability and performance.
• Work on SAP modules such as FI, SD, CRM, and S/4HANA, especially in environments that use SAP BRIM or subscription-based models.
• Develop RESTful services using ABAP Cloud, RAP, and integrate on Steampunk when needed.
• Lead or contribute to full lifecycle SAP implementations, upgrades, and support activities.
• Collaborate with business and functional teams to understand requirements and transform them into technical solutions.
• Utilize Clean Code, TDD, Code Reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and modern SAP architecture best practices.
• Support data modelling, master data design, and complex interface scenarios including API management and integration patterns.
• Troubleshoot and resolve critical production issues across SAP environments.
• Document technical specifications, development objects, test cases, and support documentation.
• Work in Agile teams using SCRUM, SAFe, or KANBAN methodologies.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related fields.
• Minimum of 4+ years' experience in SAP ABAP development, with strong exposure to Object-Oriented ABAP.
• Practical experience with SAP S/4HANA is a must.
• Experience or familiarity with SAP BRIM, Subscription Billing, and Revenue Management is a plus.
• Sound knowledge of SAP Business Master Data, architecture patterns, and database structures.
• Knowledge of design patterns, secure coding practices, and software testing frameworks.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively across geographies.
• Strong problem-solving mindset and analytical capabilities.
• Experience working in international and cross-functional teams.

Desirable (Good to Have)

• Hands-on experience with ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP).
• Familiarity with SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) or Steampunk.
• Exposure to SAP Fiori/UI5, Adobe Forms, or OData services.
• Certification in SAP ABAP or S/4HANA Development.
• Knowledge of DevOps, Jenkins, or other CI/CD tools in SAP environment.
