Senior Software Engineer Job Description

A Senior Software Engineer is responsible for addressing the entire software development lifecycle, including analysis of needs, design, testing, and development to meet those needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work on projects currently being developed by our company.
  • Develop and direct software system validation and testing methods.
  • Direct software programming initiatives.
  • Communicate project statuses and proposals with account managers and cross-functional departments.
  • Translate new technology and business requirements to developers into a software design they can relate to.
  • Raise potential issues or risks in the development lifecycle to stakeholders outside the development team.

Requirements:

  • Strong foundation as a Java developer.
  • Experience with Spring Boot.
  • 4+ years of experience as a developer in general.
  • Strong experience designing and developing REST APIs.
  • Ability to write beautiful and well-structured, correct, and testable code.
  • Knowledge of DevOps using Docker, Terraform, and Kubernetes (plus).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, independently, and in a collaborative team environment.
  • Good communication skills, including a strong command of the English language.
  • Experience using SQL to extract and update data when required.
  • Experience in hardware peripherals and network troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services and troubleshooting server-related issues in AWS environments.

Additional Requirements:

  • Pro-active and eager to learn both independently and from experienced colleagues.
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to multitask and prioritise deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge or experience of the Health and Fitness industry.
  • Hardware peripherals and network troubleshooting.
  • Git (GitHub), Slack, Graylog, LogicMonitor, Bash, Lambda, Shell, Operating systems: Windows, Linux, Mac.
