The Role

As an SAP ABAP HANA Developer, you will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining ABAP-based solutions within the SAP HANA environment. You will work closely with business users, functional consultants, and other developers to deliver high-performance, scalable solutions to meet business requirements on SAP S/4HANA or ECC systems. You will be expected to leverage your deep technical knowledge of ABAP and HANA to improve the efficiency and performance of SAP applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • ABAP Development: Design and implement custom ABAP solutions, including reports, forms, interfaces, enhancements, and workflows.
  • SAP HANA Optimization: Optimize and fine-tune ABAP code for efficient execution on the SAP HANA database platform, including using HANA-specific development features such as AMDP, CDS Views, and SQL performance optimization.
  • Integration: Work on integrating SAP systems (SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC) with other systems and third-party applications through various middleware tools, BAPIs, IDOCs, and web services.
  • Collaboration with Functional Teams: Engage with SAP functional consultants (SD, MM, FI/CO, etc.) to understand business processes and develop technical solutions accordingly.
  • Performance Tuning: Identify performance bottlenecks in ABAP programs, database queries, and other system components. Implement optimization techniques to enhance performance.
  • Testing and Debugging: Conduct thorough unit testing and debug issues during development. Support integration and UAT testing cycles as needed.
  • Development of Custom Fiori/UI5 Applications: If applicable, develop and maintain Fiori/UI5 applications and improve user experience by integrating them with backend SAP systems.
  • Documentation and Best Practices: Ensure all development work is well-documented, adhering to coding standards and best practices for ABAP and HANA development.
  • Ongoing Support: Provide ongoing support, troubleshooting, and maintenance for existing SAP applications and enhancements.

Ideal Profile

Key Skills & Expertise:

  • SAP ABAP (Classic, Object-Oriented, and ABAP on HANA)
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA, including implementation and integration tasks
  • SAP HANA Database Optimization using AMDP, CDS Views, and other HANA-specific features
  • Strong knowledge of ABAP performance tuning, debugging, and troubleshooting
  • Experience with BAPIs, IDOCs, RFC, and ALE for system integration
  • Familiarity with SAP Fiori/UI5 (development or enhancements)
  • Understanding of SAP Functional Modules (e.g., SD, MM, FI/CO) and their integration with ABAP
  • Experience with WebDynpro ABAP, SAP Workflow, and SAP Gateway (OData) is a plus
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • 5-7 years of hands-on experience in SAP ABAP development, with a focus on HANA and performance optimization
  • SAP HANA or ABAP Certification is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Experience working in Agile or DevOps environments (optional)
