You'll join a team of Backup and SAN Engineers primarily focused on Infrastructure Storage, Backup and Restoration of mission critical data. You should be expertise in Scripting language like Ansible, Terraform, Python. You'll also be required to perform Fiber channel zoning and light storage array work (provisioning LUNS, adding NFS and CIFS shares, etc).
Responsibilities :- You will manage and maintain storage infrastructure, including SAN (Storage Area Network) and NAS (Network Attached Storage) environments, ensuring optimal performance and availability. Configure, deploy, and administer backup and recovery solutions, including backup software, tape libraries, disk-based backups, and cloud-based backup services. Develop and implement backup and retention policies to ensure data integrity, compliance, and disaster recovery readiness. Monitor storage and backup systems for performance, capacity utilization, and health, proactively identifying and resolving issues to minimize downtime and data loss. Automate routine storage and backup tasks using scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Ansible, terraform) and automation frameworks to streamline operations and improve efficiency. Collaborate with other IT teams and business units to understand storage and backup requirements, providing recommendations and implementing solutions to meet their needs. Perform capacity planning and forecasting to anticipate storage and backup growth and scale infrastructure accordingly. Stay current with industry trends and best practices in storage and backup technologies, recommending and implementing improvements to enhance system performance, reliability, and security. Participate in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of new storage and backup technologies, conducting proof-of-concept testing and performance benchmarking. Document storage and backup configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps, ensuring knowledge transfer and compliance with internal policies and standards. Comfortable writing code to automate API-driven tasks at scale. (Python preferred.) writing code for the continuing reduction of human intervention in operational tasks and automation of processes. Architect and implement automations to auto-remediate/self-heal issues in production. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field. 5+ years of experience in storage and backup administration, preferably in enterprise environments. Proficiency in administering storage arrays from vendors such as Hitachi, EMC, NetApp, or Dell. Experience with backup software and technologies such as Veeam Backup & Replication, or Commvault, Data Domain Strong understanding of SAN and NAS protocols, including Fibre Channel, iSCSI, NFS, and SMB. Hands-on experience with automation tools and scripting languages for task automation and orchestration. Certification in Ansible/Terraform will be added advantage. Knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) and their integration with storage and backup systems. Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to analyze complex storage and backup issues. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Automation Task: ·Develop scripts or workflows to automate storage provisioning tasks, such as creating LUNs, volumes, and file systems, based on predefined templates or user requests.·Implement automation scripts to schedule and orchestrate backup jobs, including full, incremental, and differential backups, and verify backup integrity.·Automate capacity monitoring and forecasting tasks using scripting and monitoring tools to proactively identify storage bottlenecks and plan for future growth.·Develop automation workflows to perform routine maintenance tasks, such as firmware upgrades, storage pool rebalancing, and disk replacement, minimizing manual intervention.·Integrate storage and backup systems with monitoring and alerting tools to automate incident detection and remediation, reducing response times to critical issues.·Implement automation scripts to enforce backup retention policies and data lifecycle management, automatically archiving or deleting outdated backups. Develop custom reports and dashboards using automation tools to provide visibility into storage and backup performance, utilization, and compliance metrics.-
