Machine Learning Scientist III

About the Team: Join Nykaa's Recommendation team within the Data Science division to drive personalized customer experiences through advanced machine learning techniques. As a Machine Learning Scientist III, you will work on developing, deploying, and optimizing recommendation algorithms that enhance user engagement and conversion rates. Your contributions will directly impact how customers discover and interact with products on Nykaa’s platform.
What are we looking for ?
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field from a reputable institution.
- 5+ years of industry experience in Data Science and machine learning, specifically in recommendation systems or personalization.
Technical Skills:
- Strong foundation in Probability Theory, Statistics, and Machine Learning concepts.
- Experience in developing and deploying recommendation algorithms (e.g., collaborative filtering, matrix factorization, deep learning-based recommender systems).
- Proficiency in programming languages and frameworks such as Python, Numpy, Pandas, Scikit-Learn, PySpark, TensorFlow/PyTorch, and recommendation libraries like torch-rec.
- Knowledge of data processing and ETL workflows for large-scale data, including familiarity with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and SQL.
- Familiarity with the entire Data Science lifecycle, from data collection and preprocessing to model evaluation and deployment.
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a passion for learning new technologies and advancing in the field of Machine Learning.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to collaborate in a cross-functional environment, working closely with engineering teams, product managers, and business stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Model Development: Design, build, and optimize machine learning models to provide personalized product recommendations that enhance user engagement and retention on the platform.
- Data Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of user behavior, product interaction, and purchase patterns to derive insights that inform model development and feature engineering.
- Algorithm Optimization: Improve the performance of existing recommendation algorithms by experimenting with novel techniques and state-of-the-art methods.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other data scientists, engineers, and product managers to define requirements, scope, and deliverables for recommendation projects.
- Deployment and Monitoring: Deploy models into production and develop monitoring tools to ensure their performance aligns with business objectives.
- Research and Innovation: Stay abreast of the latest developments in machine learning, particularly in the domain of recommendation systems, and apply these advancements to enhance Nykaa’s recommendation capabilities.
- Mentorship: Support junior team members by providing guidance on best practices, code reviews, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
