We are seeking an experienced and dynamic New Product Development Manager to join our growing team in Coimbatore. This role will focus on developing new spice and masala products specifically tailored to the South India market. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of regional tastes, consumer preferences, and food trends in South India, and will play a key role in innovating and expanding our product portfolio.
You will be responsible for taking new products from concept through to commercialization, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams such as R&D, production, quality assurance, and marketing. This role requires a passion for culinary creativity, a keen understanding of regional spices and masala blends, and a strategic approach to product development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Regional Product Innovation:
- Lead the development of new and region-specific spice blends, masala products, and ready-to-use solutions tailored to the diverse and rich culinary preferences of South India.
- Research and identify emerging food trends, regional spice usage, and consumer demands specific to South Indian cuisines to inform new product development.
- Collaborate with R&D teams to create and test new formulations using authentic ingredients that cater to the taste profiles of South Indian customers.
Market Insights & Strategy:
- Analyze and monitor market trends, consumer feedback, and competitors in the South India region to create a competitive edge for new products.
- Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to align new product offerings with market needs and to ensure the product positioning resonates with the target audience.
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of South Indian food culture, cooking techniques, and dietary preferences.
Product Lifecycle Management:
- Lead the product development process from ideation and concept development through to final launch.
- Work closely with production teams to ensure scalability and manufacturability of products that maintain consistent quality.
- Oversee product testing, including sensory evaluations, consumer panel feedback, and internal taste tests, ensuring that new products meet the expected quality standards before launch.
Cost Management & Efficiency:
- Analyze the cost structure for new product development, ensuring that products are profitable while maintaining the highest quality standards.
- Work with the procurement team to source authentic, high-quality raw materials and manage supplier relationships effectively.
- Continuously assess production processes to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality.
Requirements:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Culinary Arts, or related field.
- Master’s degree in Food Science, Business Administration, or Marketing (preferred).
- Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in new product development within the food industry, with a focus on spices, masalas, or similar products.
- Strong knowledge of South Indian food culture, regional spice blends, and culinary preferences.
- Proven experience in managing product development from concept through to commercialization in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in working with cross-functional teams including production, R&D, quality control, and marketing.
Skills:
- Deep understanding of spice blending, masala formulations, and food flavor profiles specific to South India.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple product development projects simultaneously.
Compensation: 12 LPA up to 15 LPA based on candidates experience in Spice & Masala Industry
