Lead/Senior Devops Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join our team, ideally from a product engineering background. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in Python, Linux, and DevOps practices, with a proven track record in enhancing and optimizing build processes. This role requires a proactive individual who can work independently, engage with various engineering teams, and lead the transition to CI/CD methodologies.


Key Responsibilities:

Build Engineering Support:

Understand and improve the existing build engineering processes at Exasol.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues to ensure seamless build operations.

Process Redesign:

Redesign and enhance the build process using modern tools and practices.

Lead the transition of engineering teams to Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices.

Collaboration and Communication:

Collaborate effectively with diverse engineering teams, leveraging strong technical and communication skills.

Operate independently to drive process improvements and innovation.

DevOps Expertise:

Design and implement comprehensive DevOps solutions.

Apply expertise in Linux, Python, and other scripting languages and DevOps frameworks to optimize workflows.

Leadership and Team Building:

In short, we are looking for an individual contributor at a senior design/architect level, capable of fully implementing solutions independently.


Qualifications:

Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer with a minimum of 8 years, preferably in product engineering companies.

Strong proficiency in Python and Linux.

Hands-on experience with DevOps frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and scripting languages.

Experience with cloud technology is a plus (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)

Experience with OpenStack is a plus

Ability to redesign and optimize build processes effectively.

Strong problem-solving skills with the capacity to work independently.

Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Experience in leading and mentoring engineering teams without direct managerial responsibilities.


Preferred Skills:

Familiarity with Exasol or similar database systems.

Experience with cloud platforms and infrastructure as code (IaC) tools.
