Biochemistry Faculty

Position Summary: The faculty in the Department of Biochemistry work as a full-time faculty to consistently deliver Kyrgyzstan National University (KNU) advised syllabus of Biochemistry to MBBS students. Faculty are expected to teach topics as per the given syllabus, demonstrate innovation, excellence in curriculum and co-curricular planning, foster an atmosphere of active intellectual and creative engagement in student achievement in and out of the classroom, and contribute to the advancement and overall welfare of the Medical College.

Location: Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan

Required Minimum Qualifications:

1. Master's Degree in Biochemistry

2. 2 years of college teaching experience

Roles and Responsibilities:

The candidate should be able:

Manage and execute the teaching timetable developed in the subject.

Conduct tutorials and demonstrations.

Arrange and supervise the practicals in the Department.

Prepare specimens for museum, tutorials, practicals, etc. when required.

Be responsible for the stores and laboratories under his/her charge.

Do any other duties assigned by the Head or Dean of the College.

Conduct examinations in the form of formative and continuous assessment.

Contribute to the development, planning, and implementation of a high quality curriculum.

Actively engage students in critical thinking, meta-cognitive processes, and advancement of critical communication skills.

Model and cultivate open-minded inquiry, an appreciation for diverse perspectives, and creative problem-solving.

Serve on committees and participate in department meetings with essential documentation of all such activities.

Maintain academic discipline and pedagogy by actively participating and by engaging in other professional development opportunities.

Appreciate and articulate the value of a strong general education program and use that framework to mentor adjunct faculty members and students.

Uphold and contribute to the achievement of the university strategic plan.

Handle basic microsoft application skills with easy adaptability to digital teaching methods.

Desired qualifications:

Aware of contemporary advances and developments in the field of Biochemistry.

Has acquired the competencies pertaining to the subject of Biochemistry that are required to be practised at all levels of health system.

Is able to discharge responsibilities.

Is oriented to the principles of research methodology.

Has acquired skills in educating medical and paramedical professionals.

Has acquired skills in effectively communicating with the students and colleagues from various medical fields.

Has acquired qualities of a good teacher capable of innovations in teaching methodology.

Has been able to demonstrate adequate management skills to function as an effective leader of the team engaged in teaching and research.
