Project Overview:

Bechtel India, a global operation since 1994, supports projects and services worldwide. In collaboration with business line offices, project sites, customers, and suppliers, our teams have successfully delivered over 125 projects. Bechtel India provides Engineering, Procurement, and Construction services to Bechtel's global projects across the Energy, Infrastructure, Mining and Metals, and Manufacturing & Technology sectors. Bechtel India Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bechtel, has offices in Gurugram, Vadodara, and Chennai. Bechtel India's Construction function is inviting applications from construction professionals with Rigging, Field Engineering and construction management experience for the position of Construction Rigging Engineer at our Gurgaon office. 

Job Summary:

Construction Rigging Engineer (hereafter called Rigging Engineer) will be assigned to Gurgaon office, responsible for providing the rigging engineering support to ongoing projects from India office. Additionally, focus on optimizing the processes to enhance productivity and minimize the risks associated with rigging operation. Supporting the Bechtel Equipment operations (BEO) rigging activities and extending rigging support to project sites.

Major Responsibilities:

• Provides technical guidance to construction engineers, construction coordinators, engineering personnel superintendents, regarding rigging/heavy haul requirements on the project.       
• Conducts rigging/heavy haul assessments and provides inputs related to constructability best practices, safety in deign to inhouse engineering and vendor engineering deliverables 
• Review design drawings / models for plant layout, foundation design, vessel/module designs, provisions for lifting, and verification of the suitability of imposed loadings.         
• Supports constructability, construction equipment requirements (including crane sizes and locations), scheduling, ground preparation, temporary facilities (including crane pads and haul routes), layout, and sequencing.      
• Works with field construction to prepare for equipment installation, establish plans for lifting and sequencing of work, and approve lift plans. Establishes and maintains contact with Subcontracts regarding scope of work, and technical reviews of submissions for lifting and heavy/oversize transport works.
• Independently prepares conceptual lift and transport studies, provides technical input into the development of transport and rigging and lift strategies on crane and heavy transport requirements. Prepares rigging plans, lift data sheets and formal calculations·        
• Prepares technical specifications for bid packages and assesses subcontractor technical bid packages for lifting and abnormal transport requirements.
• Reviews and approves medium and critical risk lift and site transport plans submitted by subcontractors or others and coordinates the approval for critical lift and transport studies with a Bechtel CRE.     
• May supervise the execution of lifting operations and abnormal site transport movements on a project, coordinating schedules with Project Controls.         
• Develops rigging training materials and conducts rigging training courses as required. Works with corporate rigging functional team and support development of new applications / tools, best practices and work process improvement. 

Education and Experience Requirements:

• A recognized degree in an engineering or scientific discipline from an accredited college or university specialized courses in construction management, AND/OR, demonstrated experience as a rigging engineer.      
• Level 1: Minimum 8-10 years of EPC experience with min 5 years of experience in construction rigging work operations.
• Level 2: Minimum 10-15 years of EPC experience with min 8 years of experience in construction rigging work operations.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Extensive working knowledge of rigging planning and execution standards and requirements.      
• Familiarity with industry codes and standards
• Extensive technical knowledge and experience in construction engineering in the use of lifting equipment, alternative heavy lifting systems, mobile gantries, jacking, tailing, rigging equipment, and load distribution systems, including an understanding of transport/transfer of equipment, soil mechanics, and structural steel design.
• Ability to develop rigging plans, determine equipment selection, and oversee execution.
• Strong leadership skills and ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience with tools such as AutoCAD for preparing lift plans.      
• Effective collaboration with site teams, operators, and safety personnel.
