Job Summary:

The SMT / MLB Engineering Head will lead and manage the engineering functions related to Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and Multi-Layer Board (MLB) manufacturing processes. This role is responsible for driving process excellence, ensuring high-quality production, and supporting in a fast-paced EMS environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process Leadership:
  • Oversee SMT and MLB process development, optimization, and validation.
  • Ensure compliance with IPC standards and customer specifications.
  • Implement lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
    • Team Management:
    • Lead a team of process engineers, technicians, and support staff.
    • Provide training and mentorship to enhance technical capabilities.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
      • Equipment & Technology:
      • Manage selection, installation, and maintenance of SMT/MLB equipment.
      • Evaluate and integrate new technologies to improve efficiency and quality.
      • Maintain equipment resume cards and fixed asset documentation.
        • Quality & Compliance:
        • Collaborate with QA/QC teams to resolve process-related issues.
        • Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for defects.
        • Monitor and report key performance indicators (KPIs).
          • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
          • Work closely with design, production, and supply chain teams.
          • Support new product introduction (NPI) and engineering change management.
          • Interface with customers for technical reviews and audits.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 20+ years of experience in SMT/MLB engineering within the EMS industry.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing engineering teams.
  • Strong knowledge of SMT machines (e.g., pick-and-place, reflow ovens, AOI).
  • Familiarity with PCB design, DFM/DFT principles, and IPC standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
