The Indirect Taxation Senior Executive/ Manager
Key Responsibilities:
• Tax Compliance:
• Ensure timely and accurate filing of all indirect tax returns (GST) for the organization, including on-time payment of taxes.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax laws and regulations impacting the real estate industry, ensuring compliance with both local and national tax requirements.
• Review contracts, agreements, and invoices to ensure correct application of indirect taxes.
• Tax Advisory:
• Provide tax advisory services to various departments (sales, legal, finance, and project management) on tax implications of real estate transactions, including property sales, leasing, and development.
• Advise on GST implications for real estate developments, including project structuring, land acquisition, and the sale or lease of properties.
• Guide on tax-efficient structuring for real estate investments and transactions.
• GST Management:
• Manage and oversee the GST compliance related to property transactions, including residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments.
• Ensure proper documentation, tax filings, and reporting related to GST exemptions and input tax credits on real estate projects.
• Handle tax audits and assessments by government authorities, preparing responses to notices, and addressing any concerns raised.
• Tax Planning & Optimization:
• Identify tax-saving opportunities and implement strategies to minimize indirect taxes for the organization.
• Suggest improvements for indirect tax efficiencies in processes related to acquisitions, property sales, and development projects.
• Provide recommendations for structuring real estate transactions to optimize tax outcomes.
• Coordination with Authorities:
• Liaise with tax authorities, consultants, and external auditors during audits or queries regarding indirect tax issues.
• Manage correspondence with tax authorities, resolving any disputes or issues related to tax assessments or claims.
• Documentation & Reporting:
• Maintain proper documentation for all indirect tax-related transactions and contracts in line with legal and audit requirements.
• Assist in preparing regular internal reports on indirect tax liabilities, reconciliations, and any potential risks.
• Training & Knowledge Sharing:
• Stay updated on the latest trends, amendments, and rulings in indirect tax laws, especially within the real estate sector.
• Provide training and updates to internal teams about changes in tax laws, and implement new practices or systems related to tax compliance.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Certification in Indirect Taxation (e.g., CA inter , or other relevant certifications) is highly preferred.
• Experience: 3+ years of experience in indirect taxation, preferably within the real estate industry. Knowledge of GST and other real estate-specific tax laws is essential.
• Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of the indirect tax implications of real estate transactions, including residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments.
• Attention to Detail: High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret complex tax regulations.
• Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with.
