Role Summary :
We are seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Head of IT to lead our software engineering and development teams. This role demands a seasoned leader with a deep understanding of modern web application architecture, particularly using Python (Django/Flask) for backend and Angular for frontend development. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of delivering large-scale projects, scaling technology teams, and driving innovation. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires both strategic vision and technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Leadership & Team Management :
- Lead, mentor, and scale a team of software engineers to deliver high-quality, timely projects.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence.
- Provide technical guidance, performance feedback, and career development support to team members.
- Recruit, onboard, and retain top engineering talent.
- Manage team performance, set clear objectives, and conduct regular performance reviews.
2. Technology & Development :
- Architect, design, and develop robust web applications using Python (Django/Flask) for backend and Angular for frontend.
- Ensure high-performance, modular, and scalable code by implementing industry best practices and design patterns.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and drive their adoption where beneficial, evaluating their potential impact on our products and processes.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership and contribute to code development as needed.
- Lead the technical roadmap and drive architectural decisions.
3. Project & Process Management :
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to define project scope, technical requirements, and timelines.
- Oversee sprint planning, task prioritization, and resource allocation to ensure project success.
- Implement and optimize agile development workflows, ensuring efficient execution of projects.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Manage project budgets and resources effectively.
4. Code Quality & System Reliability :
- Implement and enforce coding standards, testing protocols (unit, integration, and end-to-end), and CI/CD pipelines to maintain high-quality code.
- Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure maintainability, performance, and adherence to best practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical challenges, optimizing system performance, reliability, and security.
- Ensure system scalability, security, and performance.
- Implement and monitor system performance metrics and alerts.
5. Innovation & Scalability :
- Evaluate and integrate new tools, frameworks, and best practices to enhance development efficiency and product quality.
- Drive architectural improvements to support business scalability, future growth, and evolving customer needs.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the engineering team.
- Lead initiatives to improve infrastructure, automation, and deployment processes.
- Lead research and development efforts to explore new technologies and solutions.
Qualifications :
1. Experience & Expertise :
- 14-15 years of software development experience with a proven track record of delivering large-scale, complex projects.
- Minimum 10 years in a leadership role, managing and mentoring engineering teams.
- Deep expertise in Python (Django/Flask) for backend and Angular for frontend development.
- Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and database design (SQL/NoSQL).
- Extensive experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and version control (Git).
- Proven experience in scaling technology teams and optimizing development processes.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is highly desirable.
- Experience in system architecture design.
2. Education & Soft Skills :
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with a data-driven mindset.
- Excellent communication, presentation, decision-making, and team management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
