VMWare Admin

We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced VMware Administrator to join our IT team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining our VMware infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security of our virtualized environments.

Responsibilities

• VMware Infrastructure Management:
  • Install, configure, and manage VMware ESXi hosts and vCenter Server.
  • Deploy and manage virtual machines (VMs) and virtual appliances.
  • Monitor VMware infrastructure performance, health, and capacity.
  • Perform regular updates and patches for VMware software and hardware.
• Performance Optimization:
  • Analyze and optimize the performance of the virtual environment.
  • Implement and manage resource allocation, load balancing, and clustering.
  • Conduct performance tuning and capacity planning.
• Troubleshooting and Support:
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for VMware-related issues.
  • Diagnose and resolve problems with VMs, ESXi hosts, and vCenter Server.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to resolve complex issues and ensure seamless operations.
• Backup and Recovery:
  • Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions for VMware environments.
  • Ensure data integrity and availability through regular backups and recovery testing.
• Security and Compliance:
  • Implement and enforce security policies and procedures for virtual environments.
  • Monitor and manage security updates and patches for VMware infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to virtualization.
• Documentation and Reporting:
  • Create and maintain documentation for VMware configurations, procedures, and policies.
  • Prepare and maintain reports on VMware infrastructure performance, capacity, and incidents.
• Automation and Scripting:
  • Develop and maintain scripts for automating VMware tasks and processes.
  • Implement and manage automation tools and solutions to improve efficiency.

Qualifications

• Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Experience:
  • Proven experience as a VMware Administrator or similar role.
  • Hands-on experience with VMware ESXi, vCenter Server, and related VMware products.
• Skills:
  • Strong understanding of virtualization concepts and technologies.
  • Proficiency in configuring and managing VMware environments.
  • Experience with performance tuning, capacity planning, and resource allocation.
  • Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery solutions for virtual environments.
  • Familiarity with security practices and technologies for virtual environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Certifications:
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., VMware Certified Professional (VCP), VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP)) are a plus.
