Position Title: Area Sales Manager

Department: Sales

Location: Chennai

Reports To: Regional Sales Manager / Sales Head

Role and Responsibilities:

As the Area Sales Manager (ASM), you will play a critical role in expanding the business by driving sales growth, managing relationships with key stakeholders, and ensuring the achievement of business objectives within your assigned geographical area. Your key responsibilities include:

  1. Sales Strategy Implementation:
  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve area sales targets.
  • Identify new business opportunities, prospects, and sales channels.
  • Promote the Aditya Birla Groups products and services in the market.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities for growth.
  1. Team Management and Development:
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate the sales team within the designated area.
  • Set clear performance goals, conduct regular performance reviews, and ensure that the sales team is well-equipped to meet targets.
  • Provide training, coaching, and skill development for team members to improve performance and increase efficiency.
  1. Sales Operations and Reporting:
  • Track and analyze sales data, report performance against targets, and recommend corrective actions as necessary.
  • Prepare and submit sales forecasts, reports, and plans to the regional or national sales leadership.
  • Monitor and manage the sales pipeline, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of sales progress and outcomes.
  1. Customer Relationship Management:
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers and distributors within the region.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and resolve any issues or complaints promptly.
  • Regularly meet with clients to understand their needs and adapt sales strategies accordingly.
  1. Market and Product Knowledge:
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of product offerings, pricing, and features to effectively present to potential clients.
  • Ensure that the sales team is aligned with the latest product developments, promotions, and market conditions.
  1. Channel Management:
  • Oversee and manage the distribution network in the assigned area, ensuring strong relationships with channel partners.
  • Drive channel growth by identifying new partners and optimizing existing partnerships.
  1. Compliance and Policies:
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards within your sales area.
  • Promote and drive company initiatives such as sustainability, innovation, and CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) within the region.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Educational Qualification:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field. MBA (Sales/Marketing) is a plus.
  • Experience:
  • 58 years of experience in sales and business development, preferably in the manufacturing, FMCG, or similar industry.
  • Previous experience in managing sales teams and driving performance in an area-based sales role is essential.
  • Demonstrated success in achieving sales targets and business growth within a defined geographical area.
  • Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent negotiation, presentation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and derive actionable insights.
  • Good knowledge of CRM software and MS Office Suite.
