We are seeking a Member Technical Support Specialist to act as a key technical resource for the RTLS Alliance community. This is not a traditional application support role; instead of supporting a single software product, you will be empowering our members—who range from corporate end-users and technology vendors to consultants and academic researchers—to succeed with a wide array of RTLS technologies. You will be the go-to expert for members seeking guidance on the planning, implementation, and troubleshooting of technologies like BLE, UWB, Wi-Fi, and RFID within complex environments like hospitals, warehouses, and manufacturing plants.
Key Responsibilities- Provide Expert Guidance: Serve as the primary point of contact for members' technical inquiries via forums, email, and virtual meetings, offering vendor-neutral advice on RTLS technology selection, system design, and implementation best practices.
- Troubleshoot Complex Scenarios: Help members diagnose and resolve challenges related to their RTLS deployments, including issues with hardware, software, system integration, and environmental factors affecting accuracy and performance.
- Develop Knowledge Resources: Create, curate, and maintain high-quality content for our resource library, including implementation guides, technical whitepapers, case studies, and FAQs that address common member challenges.
- Foster Community Collaboration: Actively participate in and moderate the RTLS Alliance community forums, facilitating knowledge sharing and connecting members with relevant experts and resources.
- Liaise with Industry Experts: Collaborate with internal and external subject matter experts to ensure the guidance and resources we provide are accurate, current, and reflect industry best practices.
- Analyze Member Needs: Identify trends in member inquiries and technical challenges to inform the development of new resources, webinars, and certification programs.
- 3+ years of experience in a technical role involving RTLS, RFID, IoT, or related wireless technologies. A background in field engineering, solutions architecture, or technical support for a relevant technology vendor or system integrator is ideal.
- Broad Technical Knowledge: Strong, practical understanding of various RTLS technologies (e.g., Ultra-Wideband, Bluetooth Low Energy, Wi-Fi, RFID) and their respective advantages, limitations, and use cases.
- Exceptional Communication Skills: Proven ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and concisely to diverse audiences with varying levels of technical expertise.
- Problem-Solving Mindset: A systematic and analytical approach to troubleshooting complex, multi-faceted technical issues in real-world environments.
- Passion for Community and Education: A genuine desire to help others learn, solve problems, and contribute to a collaborative professional community.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently in a remote setting.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
- Hands-on experience with the deployment or management of RTLS solutions in key industries such as healthcare, manufacturing, or logistics.
- Experience contributing to or managing technical documentation, knowledge bases, or online communities.
- Familiarity with network infrastructure and protocols as they relate to IoT and RTLS deployments.
