Civil Engineer Role

We are seeking a skilled Civil Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of experience in civil planning, drafting, and validation of civil work packages and survey reports for network and civil infrastructure.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support Senior Engineers with civil engineering project scope activities.
  • Manage civil project deliverables to meet project objectives and business targets.
  • Review and validate legal survey documents.
  • Validate civil preliminary drawings, site layout drawings, and initial civil drawings.
  • Coordinate public consultation, municipal approval, and NAV Canada/Transport Canada approval for site acquisition processes.
  • Manage civil site work orders for main sites and tie sites (if MW transmission is used).
  • Complete foundation design based on tower design.
  • Request structural tower assessments from engineers of record (EOR) for towers and rooftops (if required).
  • Prepare and review construction drawings, including structural, electrical, and elevation drawings as required.
  • Awareness of civil reinforcement drawings.
  • Prepare civil material BOMs loaded into ADM systems.
  • Manage as-built construction drawings and post-construction inspection reports using ADM systems.
  • Establish and maintain communication channels with team members, senior management, equipment vendors, Telcos, and third-party operators.
  • Review contractors' construction reports and civil acceptance reports.
  • Prepare electrical plans, including infra-related parameters.
  • Act as construction specialists for special projects, such as in-building, complex reinforcement of tower foundations, site relocation, and MW projects.

Required Skills

  • Detailed knowledge of civil and structural engineering for telecom network infrastructure.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Mapinfo, MS Visio, civil drafting tools, project management tools, and local municipality portals.
  • Civil design and construction drawing skills, data analysis skills, and civil knowledge are mandatory.
  • Ability to forecast and manage civil capacity to ensure continuous service performance.
  • Vendor coordination and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to identify and address network issues promptly.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field, and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of telecom civil planning experience.

Additional Job Requirements

  • Proficiency in computer software applications and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and learn new technology quickly.
  • Intermediate knowledge of industry specifications and standards, such as civil, telecom construction, telecom implementation, and structural assessment.
  • Basic knowledge of civil design, civil architecture, telecom protocols, and telecom infrastructure.
  • Intermediate knowledge of ticketing and software tools.

Working Conditions

  • EST working time zone.
  • 5-day workweek with occasional weekend support required.
