Role Description

We are looking for a Senior Protection Engineer who will provide technical support to site teams from our Chennai office. The engineer will act as the backbone of the commissioning team by supporting the configuration, logic development, and relay setting validations for 400kV and above substations. This is a key office-based technical role requiring deep domain expertise in protection schemes and relay configurations.

Required Skills and Qualifications:


• B.E / B.Tech in Electrical / EEE


• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in protection systems (In 200kV to 400kV)


• Expertise in numerical relay configuration and testing (Siemens SIPROTEC 4/5, GE, Hitachi, ABB Relion, SEL, etc.)


• Sound understanding of distance, differential, and busbar protection logics and settings


• Knowledge of relay test kits such as Omicron (CMC 356/CMC 500) and ISA


• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills


• Ability to read and interpret protection SLDs, logics, and interlocking schemes


• Strong communication skills to coordinate with on-site teams and OEMs

Preferred (Good to Have):


• Experience with IEC 61850 GOOSE and MMS protocols


• Familiarity with SCADA/SAS systems and IED communications


• Exposure to digital substations and centralised protection systems


• Prior experience in a technical support or mentoring role
