Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Yocto Lead Engineer with strong expertise in Embedded Linux BSP development. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience

in Yocto-based build systems, Linux kernel, U-Boot, device drivers, and board bring-up, and should be able to lead a team of engineers,

provide technical guidance, and drive end-to-end BSP integration for automotive and embedded platforms.


Required Skills

• 7–10 years of embedded systems development with at least 2-3 years in Yocto-based BSP work.

• Strong knowledge of:

o Yocto Project (layers, recipes, BitBake, SDKs)

o Linux kernel configuration and debugging and Linux boot up process.

o U-Boot customization and board bring-up

o Device driver development (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, etc.)

• Hands-on experience in BSP integration for any embedded processors (like NXP, Qualcomm, or TI SoCs) (Automotive/Infotainment platforms preferred).

• Proficiency in C, C++ (optional), Shell scripting.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Git, Gerrit, GitHub/Bitbucket).

• Debugging skills using tools like GDB, JTAG, Oscilloscope, Logic Analyzer.

• Experience in Agile/Scrum-based development environments.


Key Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and maintenance of Yocto-based Linux distributions for automotive/embedded platforms.

• Work on Linux kernel customization, U-Boot configuration, board bring-up, and device driver integration.

• Manage BSP layers, BitBake recipes, and build optimizations for performance, reliability, and security.

• Debug and resolve low-level hardware/software integration issues (bootloader, kernel, device drivers, board bring-up).

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, QA, application, DevOps) to ensure smooth system integration.

• Perform code reviews, static analysis, and CI/CD pipeline integration for Yocto builds.

• Mentor and guide junior engineers, ensuring knowledge sharing and technical growth within the team.

• Provide customer-facing support for technical discussions, defect resolution, and release readiness.


Preferred Skills

• Exposure to functional safety (ISO 26262) or Automotive SPICE standards.

• Knowledge of secure boot, OTA updates, and system security features.

• Prior team leadership experience managing 3–5 engineers.

• Customer-facing experience in handling escalations, requirement discussions, and design reviews.


Education

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Computer Science, or related field.
