Your day at NTT DATA

Seeking a highly skilled Mainframe Developer to lead technical initiatives and mentor junior team members in our enterprise IT environment.

What you'll be doing

Key Responsibilities:

Design and implement complex COBOL applicationsArchitect robust JCL workflows and system integrationsAdvanced VSAM file management and optimizationMentor and develop junior mainframe developersLead code reviews and technical knowledge transferImplement best practices in mainframe developmentDrive process improvements and technical standards

Knowledge and Attributes:

5+ years of advanced mainframe development experienceExpert-level COBOL programming skillsComplex JCL script development and optimizationAdvanced VSAM file handling and performance tuningComprehensive z/OS system architecture knowledgeVersion control system architecture and strategyStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsSome expertise of data structures, algorithms, and software design with strong analytical and debugging skills.Some expertise in SQL and no-SQL data storesSome proficiency with agile, lean practices and believes in test-driven development.Possess a can-do attitude and one that takes initiativeAbility to work well in a diverse team with different backgrounds and experience levelsAbility to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environmentSome proficiency with CI/CD concepts and toolsExcellent attention to detail

Academic Qualifications and Certifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.Microsoft Certified Azure Fundamentals preferred.Relevant agile certifications preferred.

Required Experience:

Ability to develop junior developer's technical skillsConduct regular code reviews and provide constructive feedbackCreate training materials and technical documentationGuide architectural decisions and design patternsComprehensive understanding of mainframe architectureAbility to write efficient, maintainable COBOL codeEstablish coding standards and best practicesExperience with z/OS operating environmentExperience with IMS databases
