US Tax Manager

• Leadership & Team Management:o Lead and manage tax professionals, providing mentorship, guidance, and support to ensure high performance and professional development.o Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and support the professional growth of team members through training and development programs.
• Client Relationship Management:o Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients on complex issues, managing high-level tax planning, compliance, and consulting engagements.o Build and maintain strong client relationships by providing strategic tax advice, identifying tax-saving opportunities, and addressing client concerns.o Ensure client satisfaction by delivering timely, accurate, and proactive tax solutions tailored to each client's needs.
• Tax Compliance & Planning:o Lead the preparation and review of complex tax returns for corporations, partnerships, individuals, trusts, and estates, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws.o Provide advanced tax planning strategies, focusing on minimizing tax liabilities and optimizing tax positions for clients. o Stay current on changes in tax legislation and regulations, and advise clients on the impact of new laws or opportunities for tax savings.
• Technical Expertise & Advisory:o Provide technical expertise on complex tax issues, including mergers and acquisitions, international tax, state and local tax, tax credits and incentives, and other specialized areas.o Research complex tax matters and deliver insightful and well-supported recommendations to clients and internal teams.o Lead discussions on technical tax topics within the practice, ensuring knowledge sharing and consistent application of tax laws.
• Risk Management & Quality Control:o Ensure that all tax engagements comply with the practice's quality control policies and regulatory standards.o Monitor and manage tax risks for both the practice and clients, ensuring that tax positions taken are defensible and aligned with the practice's ethical standards.o Review and sign off on tax returns, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and completeness.
• Practice Development:o Collaborate with practice leadership to develop and execute strategies for growing the tax practice, including client acquisition, cross-selling services, and expanding service offerings.o Participate in business development initiatives, including networking, attending industry events, and representing the practice in the marketplace.o Identify opportunities to expand services with existing clients, offering additional valueadded services in tax and other related areas.
• Team Collaboration & Practice Leadership:o Work closely with partners and other department leaders to ensure seamless integration of tax services with other areas of the practice, including audit, advisory, and consulting.o Contribute to the strategic direction of the practice by participating in leadership meetings, sharing insights on tax trends, and driving operational improvements.Required Qualifications & Skills
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required.
• 10+ years of experience in public accounting or tax, with a focus on tax compliance, planning, and advisory services.
• Proven experience managing and leading professionals.
• Strong technical knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations, including experience with complex tax returns and planning.
• Excellent communication and client relationship management skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple clients and projects simultaneously.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities, including mentoring and developing staff.
• Proficiency in tax software (e.g., UltraTax, ProSystem, Lacerte) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).referred Skills
• Master's degree in Taxation or related field.
• Experience in specialized areas such as international tax, M&A, state and local tax, or tax credits and incentives.
• Strong business development and networking skills, with a track record of growing client relationships and practice areas.
• Familiarity with project management tools and techniques to streamline workflow and improve team efficiency. Working Conditions
• Office-based position with the potential for occasional remote work depending on practice policies.
• Flexibility to work extended hours during peak tax season and when necessary to meet client deadlines.
