Laboratory Technician

Job Title: Laboratory Technician – Life Sciences / Forensic Science / Agriculture / Computer Applications

About the Role:

We are looking for skilled and detail-oriented Laboratory Technicians to support teaching, research, and practical training in the departments of Life Sciences, Forensic Science, Agriculture, and Computer Applications. The role involves managing laboratory operations, assisting faculty and students during practical sessions, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree/Diploma in the relevant discipline (Life Sciences / Forensic Science / Agriculture / Computer Applications) from a recognized institution.
• Prior experience in laboratory work, technical assistance, or research support is desirable.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures, equipment handling, and maintenance.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with relevant software (especially for Computer Applications labs).
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills (Domain-Specific):

• Life Sciences: Familiarity with microbiological, environmental, or zoological lab techniques.
• Forensic Science: Knowledge of forensic sample handling, analytical instruments, and evidence management.
• Agriculture: Exposure to soil testing, crop/plant analysis, and agricultural lab tools.
• Computer Applications: Experience with software installations, programming tools, and troubleshooting in computer labs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare, set up, and maintain laboratory equipment, instruments, and materials for practical classes and research activities.
• Assist faculty and students during laboratory experiments, demonstrations, and projects.
• Ensure proper handling, labeling, storage, and disposal of chemicals, biological samples, reagents, and other materials.
• Calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instruments and software applications as required.
• Maintain accurate records of inventory, experiments, and laboratory usage.
• Implement laboratory safety protocols and ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory guidelines.
• Provide technical support for departmental research projects and student dissertations.
• Assist in procurement of laboratory supplies and liaise with vendors/service providers.
