Job Overview :

We are seeking a skilled PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and maintain our PostgreSQL database systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring database availability, security, performance, and integrity. As a key member of the database management team, you will work closely with developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to optimize and troubleshoot database-related issues.

Key Responsibilities :

Database Installation & Configuration :

- Install, configure, and upgrade PostgreSQL databases.

- Perform routine database maintenance tasks such as updates and patching.

Database Management & Optimization :

- Monitor database performance, identifying and addressing bottlenecks.

- Perform regular backups and restores of PostgreSQL databases.

- Implement and manage database replication for high availability and disaster recovery.

Database Security :

- Ensure the security of the PostgreSQL database through proper configuration, patch management, and user access control.

- Implement and enforce data access policies and permissions.

Performance Tuning :

- Tune SQL queries and optimize database performance.

- Analyze slow-performing queries and resolve issues.

- Optimize database indexing, partitioning, and schema design to improve performance.

Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution :

- Investigate and resolve database issues, including connectivity, performance, and replication problems.

- Provide on-call support for production database environments as required.

Database Backup & Recovery :

- Design and implement backup strategies for both local and remote backups.

- Ensure recovery point objectives (RPO) and recovery time objectives (RTO) are met.

- Test and validate backup and restore procedures regularly

Capacity Planning & Scalability :

- Analyze database growth and plan for future capacity.

- Implement database scalability techniques for large datasets and high transaction volumes.

Collaboration & Documentation :

- Collaborate with developers, system administrators, and other teams to ensure smooth integration of PostgreSQL databases into applications and systems.

- Document database configurations, troubleshooting steps, and procedures (ref:hirist.tech)
