Job Description :

We are seeking a talented Mainframe Developer with strong experience in COBOL, VSAM, DB2, Shell Scripting, and JCL to support our mainframe applications.

The ideal candidate will possess both technical expertise and problem-solving skills to ensure system reliability, performance, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities :

COBOL Programming :

- Write, maintain, and optimize COBOL programs for mainframe applications.

- Analyze and debug COBOL code to ensure smooth operation of the system.

VSAM (Virtual Storage Access Method) :

- Design, develop, and maintain VSAM files and datasets.

- Perform file maintenance and optimization to improve system performance.

DB2 :

- Work with DB2 databases for data retrieval, manipulation, and management.

- Develop and optimize SQL queries for efficient data access and reporting.

Shell Scripting :

- Create and maintain shell scripts for automating tasks such as file transfers, data backups, and system monitoring.

JCL (Job Control Language) :

- Write and optimize JCL scripts for batch processing, including job scheduling, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

Required Skills and Experience :

- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in COBOL programming, with a strong understanding of its syntax and structure

- Experience with the design, maintenance, and performance optimization of VSAM files.

- Proficient in DB2 database management, including writing SQL queries, stored procedures, and optimizing performance.

- Strong experience in writing and maintaining shell scripts for task automation and system management.

- Solid experience in writing and optimizing JCL scripts for batch job execution and system management.

- Hands-on experience in a mainframe environment, including familiarity with z/OS, MVS, and related technologies.

- Strong analytical and debugging skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross functional teams.

Preferred Skills :

- Knowledge of additional mainframe technologies or languages (e., CICS, IMS, and REXX) is a plus.

- Experience with Agile methodologies and working in an agile environment.
