Role Summary:

Job title: Senior Legal Counsel

Location: Mumbai

Experience: 10 to 15 years

Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES

The purpose of this role is to deliver, manage and support the General Counsel in all of the legal work within dentsu at a mid to senior level of ability, management, interaction and responsibility.

• Provides expert and strategic legal advice to stakeholders at various levels of the organisation (including executive -level boards and committees) on a variety of legal topics (employment law, contracts, compliance, corporate governance, intellectual property, etc.).

• Drafts, negotiates and advises on very complex contracts with clients and suppliers.

• Develops and delivers specialist training and supports legal risk management initiatives to support senior management in strategically managing legal risks (e.g. business training, legal updates, etc).

• Implements best -practice in compliance, contracts management, intellectual property, data privacy, IT and litigation and/or M&A.

• Delivers cost -effective handling of existing litigation and disputes to protect dentsu's best interests, including timely and accurate reporting to senior, executive and Group management.

• Works with the GC to develop and communicate a clear direction and priorities for the legal function.

• Optimises cost -efficient structures for working with outside counsel, in alignment with the GC's directives. This includes ensuring that dentsu works with the best and most appropriate (in terms of cost, ability and reputation) outside counsel in light of the specific project.

• Responsible for managing and developing Legal Counsel.

• Is a key driver of business performance and culture by acting as a role model and applying our people leader accountabilities to create an engaging employee experience for our team that inspires people to be the best they can be and supports them in executing our collective business vision and achieving our business goals and at the same time supporting both GC to properly lead and manage the expectations of our team.

• Leading or assisting in internal investigations related to actual or alleged compliance breaches.

Qualification

• LL.B with a minimum of 10 years of post-qualification experience
• A stint in Media & Entertainment or Information Technology industry shall be an added advantage.

SKILLS REQUIRED

• Strong commercial acumen
• Extensive experience dealing with and influencing senior stakeholders.
• ability to identify risks, issues and solutions
• Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
• Ability to prioritise complex and often interrelated tasks
• Good team player, collaborative style of working
