Oracle Database Machine Administrator (DMA)  & DBA Job Description

The Oracle Database Machine Administrator has skills to operate and administer all aspects of a database machine such as Oracle Exadata or Oracle Super Cluster. Oracle Database Machine Administrators help you realize the operational benefits of your engineered system by managing all componentsâservers, storage, software, database, and networkingâwith a single individual.

Oracle Database Machine Administrators deliver operational recommended practices and procedures for server, network, Oracle Exadata, and database. For example, you may receive resource management recommended practice including Exadataâ specific administration, disaster recovery procedures, backup recovery recommended practices, and monitoring setup and procedures and should be able to provide , robust and resilient architecture solutions and demonstrate the Solution Architect role  and implement them as part of POC for customer for various business requirements  by keeping in mind to optimal cost / cross platform / cross cloud integration solutions.

Qualifications:      

Work Experience: 6Yrs â 12Yrs

Oracle Exadata / ODA / Exa-logic / Super clusters. (X3/X4/X5/X6/X7)

Oracle 10g/11g/12c/19c RDBMS/RAC / Dataguard Database Administration

Oracle Golden gate 

ITIL and Oracle Certification is preferable 

Oracle RAC certification is preferable

Knowledge of SQL Server desired.

Knowledge of 10g/11g/12c/19c/   AS (application Server) desirable.

Knowledge on Multiple vendor Cloud technologies like OCI / AZURE / AWS / GCP.

Skill set / Experience required:

Substantive 6+ experience providing database administration services in the following environments - Oracle 19c/18c/12c/11g/10g Databases on HA configuration using 10g/11g/12c/19c RAC on various engineered system like Exadata / Oracle Data Appliances / Oracle Exa-logic / Oracle super clusters.

Engineered system skill requirement:

  • Develop and maintain system documentation related to your Oracle Exadata/Oracle Super Cluster, and software configuration
  • Patch and release management (database, server, network, Oracle Exadata)
  • Establish appropriate procedures and guidelines to pursue, track, and document service requests
  • Evaluating overall performance of your computer systems and providing recommendations for improving performance
  • Monitor and maintain critical hardware information for the database machine
  • Monitor and address database machine alerts
  • For Oracle Exadata/Oracle Super Cluster: New database instance creation, backup and recovery procedures implementation, Database administration, Performance tuning of the database
  • Monitor and manage infiniband performance using the aggregate sensor that takes input from multiple sensors
  • Set up alerts and threshold criteria in Enterprise Manager Cloud Control
  • Expertise on ZDLRA technology.
  • Experience in migrating the VM to old Exadata machine to new Exadata machines.
  • Expert in migrating database from commodity hardware to Exadata Machine with various approaches.
  • Migrating database with Golden gate technology with zero minutes down time.

Oracle DBA Skill required:

  • Expert knowledge in Oracle RDBMS system and strong troubleshooting skills and Problem Resolution.
  • Strong systems architectural skills and knowledge in Design and build of Database systems. Develop solutions to meet or exceed requirements. Includes knowledge to perform Remote software installations, upgrades, migrations and apply patches.
  • Experience with deployment and deployment management of Databases on Linux / Unix flavors as well as on windows systems.
  • Implementing Backup Solutions with native tools as well as RMAN with 3rd Party Backup solutions like Omni back Data protector, Veritas NetBackup, Avamar, Tivoli etc.
  • Knowledge of SAN backup tools like BCV, snap backup, Snap clone, etc.
  • Hands on expertise on HA environment - RAC, OPFS as well as sound understanding of OS Clustering - HACMP, MC SG, SGERAC and other high-availability/ fault-tolerance technologies.
  • Knowledge of virtualization and system consolidation. Cloud computing knowledge will be a huge plus.
  • Knowledge of DNS, DHCP, NFS, TCP/IP and networking services.
  • Good knowledge of Database security issues and ability to design and implement security measures.
  • Experience in disaster recovery solutions and testing.
  • Performance tuning, performance management, and capacity planning experience.
  • Extensive Knowledge of UNIX, shell/Perl Scripting and kernel Parameters.
  • Familiarity with Middle tier - applications servers, web servers, etc.
  • Experience in Oracle Enterprise manager / OEM / OMS 12c & 13c.

Additional Requirements:

  • Should be flexible to work in 24X7 shift operations
  • Capable of handling escalation independently
  • Industry certification in at least one of the cloud technologies.
