Lab Supervisor

Objectives of the Position

Carry out the general shift activities like release of RM, FG, SAP QM module operation, maintain lab equipment, data collection and support to HOD for QA/QC function.

Main Areas of Responsibilities and Key Activities

Responsibilities & Key Activities:

1. Coordination of QMS/EMS system.
2. Follow regulatory compliance and company policies and guidelines etc.
3. Handle QM module SAP activities like as Inspection plan, COA profile , notification , NCM creation and closure.
4. Molding & testing of polymer compounds as when required.
5. Coordinator of 5s & ensure clean environment in lab.
6. Conduct process/product audit as per plan.
7. Ensuring maintenance, AMC/Calibration & upkeeping of lab equipment’s.
8. Participate for harmonization of lab testing parameter & update results.
9. Assisting Quality Manager for proposing CAPEX and revenue annual budgets for laboratory function.
10. Prepare competency matrix, update training calendar, conduct training & share record with HR.
11. Prepare Procedure/WI/MOC for EHS/QMS
12. Responsible for validation of newly procured lab equipment’s.
13. Participating in problem solving for field failure/customer complaint & any inhouse failure rejection.
14. Responsible for ensuring adequate stock of laboratory consumable items.
15. Assisting QA/QC manager for documentation related to ISO 9001, IATF 16949 & ISO 14001.
16. Organize the Quality event like Quality Day celebration with involvement of all employee.

Deputation Tasks:

1. Appointment of deputy (Lab Supervisor) during out of office or on leave.
2. In absence of QA/QC Head act as QA/QC Head for operation related decision.
3. As deputy of QA/QC Head shall take following routine administrative decisions for function of the site.
4. Shall take decisions in plant to ensure effective implementation of responsible care management system (RCMS) .
5. Shall ensure proper utilization of resources for effective implementation of RCMS .
6. Shall communicate the concerned persons, in case of incidents, if any. 
7. Shall take mitigation measures, in emergency as per onsite emergency plan. 
8. Shall consult the  Head of Department & Site Head – Panoli for taking any emergency  shutdown of the plant / process  
9. In case of Process / Quality variation shall analyse the root cause and then take the decision to override the interlocks, if required ,and then communicate the same to the Site Head Panoli. 
10. Shall take decision on interlock bypass with consultation of the  Head of Department & EHS 
11. Shall sign work permits as per work permit matrix 

RCMS/EHS Responsibility:

1. Enforcement of safety rules and use of PPE in QA/QC lab & ensure safe environment in lab area.
2. Arrange MSDS for all active RM & FG grade & maintain it record.
3. Job safety analysis and documentation of safe work procedure.
4. Implementation of HIRA for all routine activities.
5. Find out near miss, unsafe condition in whole plant & report it on yellow card for mitigation of major accident & close it in proper way action plan.
6. Updating of Chemical compatibility matrix & store it with following the safety instruction.
7. To conduct BBSO audit & upload it report on EHS system.
8. Ensure that all RCMS Requirements, procedure, regulations and safe working practices are understood and implemented.

Job Skills:

• Basic operation of computer.
• Handling of lab equipment’s & having the knowledge of ISO testing standard related to polymer and plastic testing.

Job Requirements

Education: BSC+ Dip in plastic technology

Working Experience: >7 years

Technical & Professional Knowledge: Knowledge of plastic testing , operation of injection molding machine etc. Knowledge of core QC tools , IATF16949 etc.
