Position Summary:

Electrical Engineer with experience in basic, detailed design of Sub-station design activities.  Shall bring to bear profound knowledge of the equipment, physical design, and System and Protection design. Candidate should have exposure to Indian, US, Euro and other foreign codes/standards and local practices.

 

Job Dimensions:  

Supervision Received:

  • Receives operational supervision and technical guidance from Chief Engineer. 

 

Supervision Exercised:

  • Supervises and provides technical direction to subordinate engineers, specialists, designers and drafters as assigned. 

 

Contact:

  • Maintains contacts with client representatives as directed, with suppliers, appropriate field personnel and other disciplines to ensure the coordination of the work within the project or assignment and compliance with Bechtel/client requirements. 

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of Single Line diagram.
  • Equipment selection for AC Substation
  • Substation General arrangement and cutout drawings.
  • Substation layouts like Tray, earthing, Lighting etc.
  • Steady state and dynamic network design studies.
  • Protection design which includes Protection and Metering drawings and Protection settings.
  • Lightning protection design.
  • Cable management.
  • Schematics Preparation. 
  • Station service AC and DC system design.
  • Interface with other disciplines.
  • Coordination with Equipment vendors
  • Coordination with Construction and start-up/commissioning team.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

Basic Qualifications:

  • A recognized bachelor’s/master’s degree in electrical engineering, from an accredited college or university with an overall experience of minimum 13 years.
  • Site experience will be an added advantage.

 

Additional Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of the design for sub-stations.
  • Experience in Network studies; development of network structures, and relevant studies.
  • Understanding of Physical design which includes Layouts.
  • Experience in planning of Control & Protection systems for Electrical power systems.
  • Well versed with relevant international codes for Sub-station design.
