    As an Automation Analyst, you'll align our bank's architectural direction and principles and make sure that the applications and services being built adhere to them, while liaising with lead engineers, architects, business analysts and other key stakeholders to understand their objectives and requirements.

    Alongside this, you'll deliver automation solutions by implementating data and analytics and robotics process automation or other programming languages that support the Controls team in generating consistency and efficiency to improve the understanding and management of risk across our bank.

    Your top priorities will include:

    • Building and maintaining trusted working partnerships across our bank and franchises to inform and gather intelligence on emerging and future risks and controls
    • Supporting estimates after considering their design and build and testing their complexity, maintainability and serviceability
    • Designing high-volume, high-performance and high-availability automation solutions that use proven frameworks and technologies
    • Providing ongoing operational support, including upgrades, defect fixes and any process change activities
    • Developing solutions and helping with the interrogation and analysis of relevant management information that supports data insights on behalf of our stakeholders
    • Analysing, designing, developing, implementing and maintaining application codes in a variety of contexts
    • Taking responsibility for project activities, including work estimations, planning, stakeholder management and project qualityThe skills you'll need

      You’ll need a background in software engineering, software design or database design and architecture, as well as experience of developing software in a SOA or microservices paradigm.

      In addition, you'll need development experience in a programming language, the ability to use industry recognised frameworks and development tooling and an understanding of programming best practices, especially around scalability, availability and performance.

      Furthermore, you’ll need:

      • Experience of test-driven development and the use of automated test frameworks, mocking and stubbing and unit testing tools
      • Knowledge of the key phases of the software delivery lifecycle and established software development methodologies
      • A background of working in an environment where products must be delivered to specific timescales
      • An understanding of how to translate product and business requirements into technical solutions
      • The ability to understand, support, modify and maintain systems and code developed by other engineering teams
