Senior Manager - Content Acquisition and Licensing - Sports


JOB DESCRIPTION


Position: Senior Manager - Content Acquisition


Purpose: The position is responsible for the acquisition of sports; Managing relationships with sports bodies, sports marketing agencies and broadcasters

for enabling the company to achieve its strategic and financial goals and positioning of the sports network’s brand in the market in which it operates

in


Education: Post Graduate Diploma in Management


Experience: 7-10 years minimum


Location: Mumbai


Reporting Relationship: Head - Content Acquisition, Licensing, Programming Strategy and Insights


Business/Channel/Function: Channel Sony Ten Sports


Key Responsibilities:

•Content Acquisition Strategy: Provide inputs to the Head of for the creation of the network’s content acquisition for sports-based inputs from available content across the globe, revenue

potential from the content, research and insights team inputs, market feasibility from Ad Sales, competition, and budgets.

•Content Acquisition: Share relevant data with the Corporate Strategy team and liaison with them to get an estimate of the revenue generation potential of the content

through financial modelling

•Determine the appropriate licensing fees for acquiring the content and evaluate costs associated with acquisition.

Work together with the legal team to submit the network’s bid/quote for the content and liaison with external parties to acquire content within

budget

•Negotiate with the content vendor on content rights and other intricacies of the deal; Draw up a term sheet for rights

•Input terms of the deal in the system to help legal start the contract process

•Liaison with Legal and Finance teams to finalize the terms and conditions of the contract

•Share details of the content acquisition with stakeholders, including programming, marketing, scheduling, digital team and finance team

•Weekly update meetings and monthly meetings to update on the competition activities

•Relationship management: Stay connected with Sports Bodies post-acquisition of content for regular updates on the annual plan and upcoming matches and events

Maintain good relations with Sports Broadcasters and agencies and scout for available content.


TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:


•Understanding of Sports and its content

•Knowledge of how Sports bodies and federations operate

•Knowledge of the basics of Marketing, Economics, and Finance

•Knowledge of consumer preferences
