Job Location and Hours: Los Angeles, CA USA (Pacific Time)

Job Type: Contract

Pay: 1200 to 1700 INR per hour (About ~ $15 to $20 USD/hr), but flexible to negotiation DOE.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior AWS Data Engineer to design, develop, and maintain our data infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of AWS services and a proven track record of building scalable data solutions. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.


Job Description:

Responsibilities:

·       Design, create, test, and maintain comprehensive data management and processing systems.

·       Collaborate with stakeholders and solution architects to ensure architecture meets business requirements.

·       Build highly scalable, robust, and fault-tolerant systems.

·       Manage end-to-end pipeline processes, ensuring data quality, reliability, and efficiency.

·       Integrate various programming languages and tools to create complete solutions.

·       Develop and maintain ETL pipelines using AWS services (e.g., EMR, Lambda, S3, Redshift, Glue).

·       Implement and maintain micro-service-based APIs.

·       Conduct software engineering activities, including database design, coding, unit testing, and systems integration.

·       Troubleshoot and resolve issues in existing systems for optimal performance.

·       Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or CloudFormation.

·       Leverage AI to enhance data processing and analysis capabilities.

·       Ensure data governance and compliance with industry standards.

·       Oversee data management practices to maintain data integrity and security.

·       Apply DevOps principles to streamline development and deployment processes.

·       Optimize and tune data workflows for performance and cost-efficiency.

·       Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline issues, providing timely resolutions.

·       Mentor and guide junior data engineers, fostering continuous learning and improvement.


Required Skills:

  • Cloud: Extensive experience with AWS services (EMR, Lambda, RDS).
  • Programming Languages: Proficiency in many of: Scala, Spark, Python, Pyspark, C#, C++
  • Databases: Experience with MongoDB, Postgres.
  • Or various Amazon databases: Aurora, DocumentDB, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, Neptune, QLDB, RDS, Redshift, Timestream
  • Development Tools: Familiarity with IntelliJ and Lambda, AWS CodeCommit, AWS CodeBuild, AWS CodeDeploy, AWS CodePipeline, AWS Cloud9, AWS CloudFormation, AWS X-Ray, AWS Amplify, AWS Toolkit for IntelliJ.
  • Frameworks: AWS Well-Architected Framework, AWS Cloud Adoption Framework (AWS CAF), AWS Cloud Development Kit (AWS CDK), AWS Serverless Application Model (AWS SAM), AWS Control Tower.
  • Operating Systems: Amazon Linux, Ubuntu, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, Debian, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES), Windows Server, Bottlerocket
  • Experienced with the Frameworks, Tools, and principles of: Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Artificial Intelligence, Data Governance, Data management, DevOps


Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience: Over 10 years of experience in AWS and DevOps, with a proven track record of building and deploying solutions.

·       Soft Skills: Excellent communication, collaboration, interpersonal, analytical, and leadership skills. Ability to work efficiently in both independent and team environments, lead meetings, mentor other engineers

·       Deep understanding of what urgency means and knows how to address it.

·       10+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on AWS services.

·       Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.

·       Strong experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.

·       Hands-on experience with AWS services including S3, Redshift, Glue, Lambda, EMR, and Kinesis.

·       Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and best practices.

·       Experience with data modeling, ETL processes, and data integration.

·       Familiarity with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka.

·       Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.


Preferred Experience:

·       Experience in designing and maintaining data management and processing systems.

·       Proven ability to build scalable, robust, and fault-tolerant systems.

·       Experience in integrating APIs, developing ETL pipelines, and managing data integrity and security.

·       Strong background in software engineering, including database design, systems integration, and DevOps practices/tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform).

·       Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.

·       Familiarity with AI tools, frameworks, machine learning, and data analytics.

Understanding of data governance principles and practices.

·       Certification in AWS Certified Data Analytics, AWS Solution Architect, or willingness to acquire AWS Solution Architect within 3 months of onboarding (AWS Cloud Practitioner is a prerequisite).
