Position Overview:

We are looking for a WebSphere Application Server (WAS) Administrator with 5+ years of experience to manage, configure, and optimize our WebSphere Application Server environment. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of WAS installation, performance tuning, security management, application deployment, troubleshooting, and clustering in complex enterprise environments.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain WebSphere Application Server (WAS) in a production environment, including the setup of nodes, clusters, and JVM tuning.
  • Manage the deployment of Java-based applications (WAR, EAR) and configure data sources, JMS, and environment variables.
  • Monitor and optimize server performance, memory, thread pools, and database connections to ensure high performance and low latency.
  • Configure and maintain security settings including user authentication, authorization, SSL certificates, and role-based access control.
  • Proactively monitor and troubleshoot application, server, and network issues; perform root cause analysis and provide timely resolutions.
  • Implement and manage WebSphere clustering for load balancing, high availability (HA), and fault tolerance.
  • Apply patches, fixes, and updates to maintain up-to-date and secure WAS installations; manage version upgrades when needed.
  • Automate common administrative tasks using scripts (e.g., Jython, wsadmin) to streamline deployments and configurations.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including development, network, and system administration teams, to ensure smooth application delivery and optimal system performance

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in WebSphere Application Server (WAS) administration.
  • Strong experience in deploying and configuring Java EE applications (WAR, EAR, JAR files) on WebSphere.
  • Proficiency in JVM tuning, performance optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Expertise in WebSphere clustering, load balancing, and high availability configurations.
  • Experience with security management, including SSL configuration, user authentication, and role-based access control.
  • Proficient in scripting and automation using tools like Jython and wsadmin.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills for resolving server and application issues.
  • WebSphere certification (e.g., WAS v8 or later) is a plus.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) or containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
