DevOps Lead/Senior DevOps Engineer

High-Scale GCP Systems

As a DevOps Lead/Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable and highly available infrastructure for our 1 applications, primarily within Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will leverage your deep expertise in GCP services, containerization, automation, and security to ensure the smooth operation of our systems and support our rapid growth. You will be a key contributor to our infrastructure strategy, driving innovation and optimizing performance and cost efficiency within GCP.

Responsibilities:

  • High-Scale Infrastructure Management (GCP Focus):
  • Design and manage infrastructure on GCP for applications supporting millions of concurrent users.
  • Ensure high availability, scalability, and performance of critical systems on GCP.
  • Conduct performance tuning and optimize GCP cloud costs.

Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Expertise:

  • Architect and manage cloud infrastructure using core GCP services.
  • Configure and manage Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), subnets, gateways, and networking infrastructure within GCP.
  • Utilize GCP services like Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, and others for optimal solutions.
  • Containerization and Orchestration (GKE):
  • Dockerize applications and deploy them on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
  • Implement and manage container orchestration for scalability and resilience within GKE.
  • Automation and CI/CD:
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like Cloud Build, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and ArgoCD.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Terraform and Ansible.
  • Implement GitOps practices.
  • Monitoring and Logging (Cloud Monitoring/Logging):
  • Set up and maintain monitoring and logging systems using Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, and ELK Stack.
  • Proactively identify and resolve performance and availability issues.
  • Security (GCP Security):
  • Implement security best practices for GCP infrastructure and applications.
  • Configure firewalls, IAM roles, and security groups within GCP.
  • Utilize GCP security tools like Cloud Armor and Security Command Center.
  • Data Processing and Streaming (Dataflow/Pub/Sub):
  • Implement data streaming solutions using tools like Pub/Sub.
  • Build serverless ETL pipelines using Dataflow.
  • Utilize data storage and database solutions like Cloud SQL, Cloud Spanner, and VectorDB.
  • Performance Optimization:
  • Optimize docker images for size and security.
  • Implement caching strategies using Memorystore.
  • Conduct stress testing and performance tuning.
  • Deployment Strategies:
  • Implement zero-downtime deployments using blue-green and canary releases within GCP.
  • Automate Managed Instance Group updates using CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps engineering, with a focus on high-scale systems on GCP.
  • Strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services.
  • Proficiency in Docker and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
  • Extensive experience with CI/CD tools (Cloud Build, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD).
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible).
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, ELK Stack).
  • Knowledge of networking concepts (VPC, subnets, gateways) within GCP.
  • Experience with database management (Cloud SQL, Cloud Spanner).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash).
  • Experience with message queues (Pub/Sub).
  • Experience with data streaming technologies (Dataflow).
  • Experience with container security best practices within GCP.
  • Experience with high user load applications on GCP.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with AI/ML infrastructure and pipelines on Google Cloud AI Platform.
  • Experience with streaming platforms on GCP.
  • Experience with Vector Databases
