We foster an environment of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning, empowering our teams to build impactful solutions that drive real-world change.Position OverviewWe are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mobile Application Developer with a strong background in Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) and Compose Multiplatform (CMP). This is a critical role for a new, greenfield mobile application project that will serve as an add-on to our existing CMMS software, with a long-term vision to expand.The successful candidate will be instrumental in establishing our KMP/CMP ecosystem, driving architectural decisions, and accelerating the team’s adoption of these technologies. You will play a key role in shaping the future of our mobile offerings.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and contribute to the design, development, and implementation of a new cross-platform mobile application using Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) and Compose Multiplatform (CMP).Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the development team, including setting up the KMP/CMP ecosystem and onboarding team members.Participate in technical discussions, conduct code reviews, and ensure adherence to architectural best practices.Develop reusable business logic, data models, and networking code in Kotlin for consistent functionality across Android and iOS.Build user interfaces using Compose Multiplatform, optimized for native-like experiences on all target platforms.Integrate with platform-specific APIs and existing native code when required (e.g., camera, GPS).Collaborate with UI/UX designers, backend teams, and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and consistent behavior.Contribute hands-on to coding (70–80% of capacity) while supporting and coaching team members.Design and implement testing strategies (unit, integration, UI) for KMP/CMP projects.Focus on performance optimization, debugging, and memory management to ensure a smooth user experience.Required Skills and ExperienceProven hands-on experience with Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) and Compose Multiplatform (CMP).Strong background in mobile application development for Android and iOS.Experience defining application architecture and leading technical discussions.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Expertise in mobile architecture patterns (MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture).Proficiency in designing and implementing testing strategies for KMP/CMP projects.Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.Strong understanding of state management in Compose Multiplatform.Experience with dependency injection frameworks (e.g., Koin, Hilt).Deep understanding of modern Android (Kotlin, Jetpack Compose) and/or iOS (Swift, SwiftUI/UIKit).Ability to mentor junior and mid-level developers.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.Nice to HaveExperience with JavaExperience with SwiftAt Andela, we know our strengths lie in our diverse community whose talents, perspectives, backgrounds, and orientations we take pride in.
