Position Summary:

As our Senior Backend Developer, you’ll be the architect of the digital infrastructure of the various platforms we build. You’ll write Python and Javascript/Typescript and use standard web frameworks (Django, FastAPI, Nest, Hapi etc) and will collaborate with DevOps and DevSecOps teams. People with a knack for collaboration, technical prowess, and a penchant for elegant solutions are what we are looking for.


Responsibilities:

  • Backend: Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Python (Django, FastAPI) and Node.js (Nest, Hapi, Express). Your APIs will be the backbone of our applications.
  • Microservices: Primarily using API gateway and lambda. But also have experience in developing monolith and distributed monolith applications.
  • Data: Work with databases for fast response time and high scalability—whether it’s SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) or NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis).
  • Scalability: Create systems that scale gracefully. Handle traffic spikes without any hitch.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with frontend developers, UI/UX designers, and product managers. Translate requirements into backend reality.
  • Security: Implement robust security measures. Good knowledge of implementing checks for OWASP Top 10 and SANS top 25 security issues.
  • Performance: Optimize API response times, database queries, and overall system performance.
  • Unit tests: Write unit tests in both JavaScript and Python.
  • PR reviews and Code Review: Mentor junior developers, conduct code reviews, and uphold quality standards. Do pull request reviews.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.


Qualifications:

Technical:

  • Extensive experience with Python and Node.js frameworks.
  • Proficiency in designing RESTful APIs and GraphQL endpoints.
  • Proficiency in designing and implementing serverless applications
  • Strong database skills (SQL and NoSQL). Very strong ability to write highly optimized queries.
  • Cloud mastery (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Good knowledge of job queues and message processing.
  • Good knowledge of system design and design patterns.
